I sat with my pyjamas on and Caleb, between my legs, in bed watching old cartoons and gorging on junk food. I had planned for us to go and look around in wolf form but now I wasn't in the mood.

I was focusing all my attention on blocking out all negative thoughts and holding my mate. Listening to his squeals of happiness as the characters kissed was all I needed.

"I wish I was a princess," he said out of the blue.

"You are a princess. My princess," I said and kissed his neck softly. I wasn't expecting him to moan loudly but he did and blushing soon after,"Woah there... the season is coming quickly huh?"

He nodded shyly before mumbling an apology and shuffling away.

"Why did you move puppy?" I asked with a frown. I was just starting to forget about everything else.

"I don't want to make you think about the bad people, poopy. If I sit over here you can think of only me," I smiled softly at him.

"I want you to come around me all you want. Hug me all you want and if it gets to be too much I'll tell you okay? Can you do that for me?"

He nodded quickly and immediately came back to wrap his arms around me. My breathing did hitch but that was short lived and I was soon able to get comfortable with the touch of my mate.

We ended up staying in bed all day and Caleb didn't seem to mind at all. We just hugged a lot and I learned a lot about him.

He told me a lot of stories about other wildlings he had met and the packs of wildlings he had came across and how he once had to run away from a wolf I suspected was from my pack when it was under Malichai's reign.

My thoughts strayed over to the situation with Malichai and the threats the pack had received. Just before we left a decaying wolf, not a were, was found hanging from a tree. I had wanted to stay and ensure the packs safety but my beta and the elders insisted I leave.

By the colour of the wolf it seemed that the one being targeted was my mate. Despite the fact that I had nothing to do with the death of Malichai's mate, he blamed me and wanted to destroy my mate and by extension the pack.

"Caleb?" I called as we got dinner ready.

"Yes," he answered tossing the salad with a look of disdain.

"I don't want you to worry, but Malichai is becoming a threat. He didn't just stop with attacking you. He's been sending threatening messages to the pack-"

"Damian! Are you going, going... crazy?" he said tripping on his words, "the pack needs you. You can't just leave them, ditch them, for me!"

"I'm not ditching them puppy. They were getting worried about us as a couple... and well the elders agreed the trip was for the best because we believe Malichai's target is you. We wanted to see if the attacks were focused on you."

"Oh," he said softly.

"Don't worry though we're working on finding his base and then we will attack. Because if he gets you I will fall apart and then so will the pack and we can't let that happen right?"

He nodded before turning back to his salad. I ran a hand through my hair before removing the baked turkey from the oven.

"When will I join the pack?" he suddenly spoke up.

"You are a part of the pack... but when I mark you it'll be official."

"Can you mark me now?" he asked looking hopeful. I nearly cut myself with the knife.
