(updated ending)
Just a quick heads up: This final part to this story is hella long. I'm talking like 6 of my usual chapters long, so I installed sone break points in this latest update, hopefully it makes your reading experience better.
So enjoy! The three battle-scarred tanks and their crews charged ahead. With Miho leading the deadly trio.
"We have these two!" Maho yelled as her Maus fired its 128mm cannon as well as it's secondary 75mm gun.
The Leichttraktor completely disintegrated and the Locust burst into flames.
Maho watched the Locust crew crawl out of the flaming wreck, the flames had no effect on the Scorchers, the fire simply blew over their smoky grey tanking jackets.
The crew had clearly made visual contact with the girls, but only checked for survivors in the Leichttraktor and fled.
"May I ask, what's our plan exactly?"
Asked the weary Nekota.
Maho's radio buzzed in, "We cut off the enemy ground forces in a t-bone action. That way we can fend off the Scorcher tanks and troop carriers. And hopefully our efforts will be enough to help our friends and maybe even save the day."
Maho looked up seeing a massive attack squadron of bombers and fighters, mainly from World War 2.
The fleet scattered and a huge mess of aircraft filled the sky.
"I'm afraid we can't do anything about the planes."
Maho knew that many bombers would easily destroy their three tanks, but instead they went for the academy ship and its defences.
"Ok, we push until we can no longer."It was a mess at the port town where the Oarai Academy ship docked. Soldiers, vehicles, civilians and the remaining tankery girls ducked and ran from devastating Scorcher attacks.
Anzu, Yuzu and a few others girls used the Hetzer for cover, its heavily angled front armour was made even better with its carbon nanotube coat.
Bombs and bullets hit their tank, but were unable to penetrate.
Very cautiously she peeked out, she saw a huge commotion of military men doing various jobs. But soon she watched a Type 87 SPAAG roll up and aim its mighty twin 35mm guns to the sky. The modern Japanese self-propelled anti-aircraft gun made short work of the Scorcher planes, but their were so many.
It almost seemed as they were growing in numbers, and that some of the aircraft felt as if they were invincible.
Eventually the Scorchers made it to their target; the academy ship.
There the Ju-87 Stuka and Dornier Do 217 bombers began their bombing runs.
Distant thunder was all that could be heard while the high explosive payloads hit and detonated.
Luckily all civilians had been transported to the lower regions of the ship, there they were safe under layers upon layers of the ship.
What stood out during the whole ordeal was the beginning. A fast and very powerful vehicle had started the assault, its terrifying accuracy and silent and quick engine scared the military and even the high command.
The unknown vehicle dodged the TOW missiles, and took some of the hardest hitting shells easily, not even pausing for a moment. But the legendary vehicle soon disappeared among the smoke and destruction, it's current location is not known."Anzu what is happening?" Miho searched and waited for an answer.
Another Locust lobbed its small shells, but had almost no effect on their tank.
Suddenly a distressed Anzu answered.
"Miho! You're still ok. Things are going bad here."
"Why's that?" She asked while firing upon another Scorcher scout tank.
"The army is having a hard time fighting them! The ship is under attack! They have tanks and are protecting us but it's getting scary!"
Miho could tell that the ship was under attack. Bombs exploded on the top layer, the city on the ship was almost completely ablaze.
As the destruction and death grew so did the unnatural smoke in the sky.
It was a signature Scorcher thing, wherever their destruction went the smoke and orange haze followed.
"Stay with them, they will keep you alive, but if the need arises then come to us. We will defend you till the end."
After a short moment of silent gunfire and explosions she responds, "Understood Miho. Good luck.".
Miho took a breath, "You too."The Maus slowly rolled over a hill, the driver locked its tracks and waited for further instruction.
Maho pulled out her binoculars to inspect what was ahead.
Her jaw dropped.
Maho saw many Scorcher tanks and many other armoured vehicles.
The group consisted of a wide variety of tanks and APCs. She could make out KV tanks, Panthers, Panzer IV's, T-34s, M4 Shermans, Churchills and many infantry fighting vehicles. These were obviously not the emergency back up tanks the Scorchers had used earlier, but rather fully combat capable vehicles which were fully armed and crewed.
Her mind was blown at the thought of so many tanks.
Miho and Nekota arrived at the hill.
They too saw the massive amount of tanks slowly roll by.
"O-oh my gosh... W-we're gonna die..."
Whispered Nekota.
Miho was speechless, it was worse than when they found out they were facing off against All-Stars university team.
Holy shit, we have no chance...
Miho looked down at her crew, Yukari worriedly holding a shell, Hana lying relaxed and calm from the morphine, and Mako viewing in awe through the driver's viewport. And thought, they were gonna die anyway, why give up now when you can do so much damage to the enemy?
