After she had bowed and received her roses, I saw Amy wiping a tear from her face. I ran up to her, and up close, wow, was she beautiful. Her eyes were pale silver, with a solemn depth that showed loss and despair. Her cheeks were defined, her lips plump and large, and her nose thin and rounded at the tip. Most breathtaking was her hair. It was luscious and thick, the colour of flowing chocolate. It swam through the air, as if it were part of the show in itself. She was beautiful.
"Hi! I'm Y/N! I'm a journalist for Upwards Magazine. I've been to a few of your shows, am I must say, I am a huge fan. The work you do.. it's just.. wow. You make me want to take it up for myself. I was wondering if you-" I was so excited I said of this in one breath, ending up flushed and panting before I got cut off.
"No, I'm sorry I wouldn't like an interview. I need to get going, but thanks for the interest" something was wrong with the way she spoke. She seemed shy; or worried someone might hear her.
"Oh, no I wasn't after an interview. I was wondering if maybe you might want to go out for coffee or something? Well, actually I don't like coffee, so I'd be having tea on this hypothetical date, but you can have whatever. I mean- ugh I'm a bit flustered, sorry." At this she laughed. When she laughed it was like the song of bluebird, sweet and clear and genuine. Her cheeks pinker and her eyes happier, I thought I might even have a chance.
"Um, sure. Yeah why not. And I don't like coffee either."
"Really? Wow, ok great. Here's my number." I scribbled my phone number onto the back of my ticket and dropped it into her open palm.
"I'll call you." She said with a smile. I felt my heart swell and blood rush to my cheeks, because, the albatross had smiled at me.
