Chapter 1: Forbidden Discoveries

It was a lazy summer day at the Potter-Weasley residence. James, Albus, Rose, Hugo, Lily, Freddie and Scorpius had gathered in the attic, exploring the nooks and crannies filled with magical artifacts. Among the clutter, they stumbled upon an old and dusty book with a worn-out leather cover. The book seemed to be a journal, its pages filled with cryptic symbols and drawings.

"This looks awesome!" James said with a look of awe on his face, as Lily and Rose exchange unsure glances.

"Let's read it!" Albus chimes in excitedly, trying to grab the journal from his brothers tight grasp. James pulls the book out of reach but agrees that they should try to decipher it. Scorpious, seeming bored, didn't mind having something to do for a few hours. As Rose and Lily definitely did not want anything to do with their antics, they begrudgingly decided to stay because they knew their cousins and brothers were capable of stirring up a whole lot of trouble in just a short amount of time. After hours of Lily and Rose exchanging gossip and talking about their upcoming year at Hogwarts, James proudly announced that they figured it out.

"It's a guide to a time turner!" His eyes were bright with happiness,

"Well, there's no time turner here? So was that not a waste of our day?" Rose says looking at the boys in boredom. James stares at her for a second, then turns back to the chest were they found the old journal. He rummages around for a few seconds before pulling something out, the time turner.

"No! Cause the time turner is right here silly" he declares, a small victorious grin on his face.

"Let's time travel a few minutes into the future!" He says after looking at the journal for another minute. "I understand most of this and I can definitely do it, it will be so cool!" He pleads his case even though no one had said anything. Rose and Lily once again, exchange looks but know that James, Albus, Hugo, Freddie and Scorpius would stupidly do it regardless of what they said. Lily looks over at Scorpius, in hopes he will stop this ridiculously stupid idea but instead he shrugs, "why not? It would be cool to say we time traveled at least once." Hugo nods in agreement, him being the youngest he is the most excited. James and Albus share a smirk and James gets to work on figuring out how to use it. James follows the instructions in the journal on how to activate the time turner, and suddenly a small hum fills the room, surrounding the young children. At once, the room started to warp and illuminated bright colors so blinding that Rose and Lily actively reached out to one another in an attempt for comfort in the unknown. As soon as the light was there, it was gone. The kids found themselves falling through air, for a split second before they splattered onto hard, concrete ground. Groans and moans resonated from the group of children. Lily pries her eyes open, sun beaming into her face.

"Bloody idiot you are James Sirius Potter!" Lily Luna Potter yelled from her spot under her older brother.

"It wasn't just me! It was all of us!"

"Not all of us wanted to time travel, but someone's got to keep you lot of out trouble, huh?!"

"Could you get your feet out of my face!" Rose said, annoyance clear in her voice.

"I can't you bloody idiot, Albus is laying on me" Scorpius responded, rolling his eyes at the feisty Weasley girl.

Slowly, the group gathered their wits and untangled their limbs from one another. As Lily climbs to her and feet and helps Rose dust herself off, she stares dazed and confused into the bustling and busy Diagon Alley. Confused, she turns to James

"Why aren't we at the house still? Why're we in Diagon Alley?!" Her voice raises as her nerves settle in.

James brushes his sister off. "Relax, I'm sure we're just a few minutes or hours into the future. That time turner has probably been sitting for years untouched!"

Lily, suspicious of their circumstances, stops a wandering witch who was passing.

"Excuse me, ma'am. Could you please tell me what the date and year is?" The witch, stops and looks at Lily with a strange glance. "Well.. it's September 12th, 1995. Are you children okay?" Lily, mouth agape in horror has no words for the kind witch who unfortunately had just delivered the worst news in the world to this young group of children. The witch, still standing there, glances between all the children and slowly begins to walk away as she realizes none of them are responding.

Scorpius turns to James and grabs him by his shirt, "you said you knew what you were doing! What the hell are we doing in the 90's James!" His voice thunders in the alley, a visible vein popping in his forehead as the anger sets in. James face turns red and stutters and stumbles on his words — "I said I understood MOST of what was in that book. You guys wanted to time travel too!" He cries out, looking as if he might wet his pants at any moment.

"We are so bloody screwed!" Freddie wails

"Can't we just go find our parents?" Albus asks the group.

"Are you bloody crazy? One thing I know about time travel is do not interact with anyone who has significance in your life!" Rose spits out.

"So what do we do?" Hugo says, tears welling in his big eyes. The other cousins exchange glances, unsure what to do next.

"One thing for sure, we need to get to Hogwarts. We'll be safe there. We can find another time turner and get back to our time without causing any temporal disturbances" Scorpius says, his hand pushing back his blonde hair from his face. Once again, looks are exchanged as the children make their way through Diagon Alley, in hopes to figure out a way into their beloved school. Little did they know, their adventure home would be much more difficult then they originally thought..
