It was like a nightmare come true, Immediately I stepped out of our front door. A policeofficer was waiting outside by his vehicle smiling to his fullest. I stopped dead on my track just as he began to walk towards me.

" Mr Gabriel, " ha asked politely.

"What know! Did I go stealing again in my sleep or what?" I asked feeling rather upset by his own presence.

"I have been asked to come hear and escort you to the courthouse and ........"

"So they have sent you to make sure I don't escape?" I asked

"Not really! Am just hear to make sure your safe arrival to the courthouse. I can't explain it all but you will understand when we get there." He said trying to smile.

"You can take this opportunity to join me in the cops car. I will be eager to drive you ...."

"No thanks! Am going to ride with my mother. At least I will feel more comfortable there."

And before any of them could talk , I had already reached the vehicle and jumped in it.
I don't know how long it took us to get there but sure enough we had arrived. It was as if we just took the first corner from home and there it was the courthouse. I had never been to the inside to which I have never dreamt about it. The only time I was so close to the building was that one time before I joined highschool.

We had decided to go around town. When we got to the courthouse I run up the stairs eager to get inside but unfortunately its doors were closed. I tried to take a small peak on the window but it was all peach dark. I descended down the stone stairs looking rather disappointed by it. I looked back once more and comforted myself saying 'one day I will get the chance to have a look on the inside'

But clearly I had not pictured it like this. It was not the kind of way I wanted to get to the place. I had been given different stories about the place. Of how people went to be judge and never came back. I still couldn't understand this full. What it meant I didn't understand and right now was not the best time to think about it.

I had more oppressive matters to think of rather than this. I started to picture myself behind the stand being interogeted by one of the lawyers. 'Just like in the movies' I felt guilty and on the verge of splitting myself into two. And finally "You have been sentenced to life imprisonment for trying to ........ "

"Nnnnooooooooooo......."

I woke up abrubtly sweet trickling down my face. Clearly I was fast asleep in the back of our car. I looked out and there it was, standing tall as usual. The courthouse doors were busy smiling down at my face from the end of the stones stairs they kept swinging in all directions indicating the manner in which people kept entering and existing from the building.

A sad and confused feeling dropped deep into my heart. I was still thinking on how the trials will be and what was going to be the final judgment of my case.

I stepped out of the car slowly & walked behind my mother who was following the policeman close behind asking him different questions. I tried to get a closer hearing to there conveesation. But they were talking in low tones that even the ants could not hear.
