The Last Wish

Chapter Three

I was sitting outside the court room trying to think of all the possible lies I could come up with to tell the judge just to get myself out of trouble. The pressure was rather intense and I could no longer bare it. I was trying not to freak but my hands were already shaky and sweety . I was already coming up with types of escape plains I could think of but nothing came up to my mind. The doors to the courtroom suddenly opened and out come miss Johnsons my lawyer.

' Mr Gabriel , it's time. please you are needed inside' she said calmly looking rather glad to see me.

I smiled back at her before she turned her back to us and left. I was about to stand up and leave when suddenly my mom held my hand and pulled me back into a tight hug and whispered gently into my ear

' No matter what the judge decideds today I want you to know that I love you very much and am glad to be your mother' she said pulling me even more tighter.

Minutes later, I was standing infront of the judge whose half-moon shaped glasses were hanging on the edge of his long crooked-banana shaped nose. They seemed to have been held on by some sort of invisible thing. he rose his sky blue eyes and looked straight into my eyes. i could feel his eyes piercing my soul trying to find a weak spot to hit but I could not bare giving him the pleasure.

'Mr Gabriel, how old are you?' he asked finally breaking the silence in the room.

'Am only fifteen years your honour.' i replied

'Seems like you are really enjoying yourself despite the situation you are in!'he asked

I didn't dare answer the question but rather pretended like I didn't hear it. I smiled at the judge in a way to tell him how stupid he was.

' Do you think a small guy like you deserves to be locked up in prison with the others, cause judging by the size of your body you don't deserve to be there' he asked again

I opened my mouth to answer but immediately i closed it ; not because I didn't have anything to say to him; but because i realized he was actually right. he looked at me once more and just said " I thought so!" and looked down again on the sheets of papers that laid infront of him.

His question made me realize that i have never experienced prison life ever. Although I always got a way myself involved in so many mischiefs , I have never been in detention since i always got a way to buy myself out of it. But this time it was just but a dead end for me. There was no way I could escape this time round. i could feel my body temperature slowly rising above its normal. My hands wereall wet from the sweet that was already forming all around my delicate body I was on the verge of breaking down when he finally spoke and all the tention in my body was gone.

'Considering the fact that you were caught redhanded in the act, it is mandatory for me to give you a jail sentence of not less than Three years. Plus, another two years considering the fact that you seem to be an indiscipline little guy. You are therefore sentenced to five years in the juvenile detention centre' he finished this words in a harsh tone

The words hit me hard and I could not get the hang of it. I could see my mother crying but all I could do was watch from a far.
