Eli

Everything happened so fast...how did they even know where I was? And why would someone come after me? Hold on, let me switch that up a bit. Who told them to come for me?

Sure, I had enemies but no one stupid enough to actually come after me. My father was still in charge of everything undercover while I'm basically the underboss. I guess he has someone after him so they wanted to hit him where it hurts by shooting his only son.

Whoever it was, we will find them! Thank God, Gio had came to meet up with me to go over some last minute arrangements because I don't know if I was capable enough to drive myself to the hospital. An ambulance had picked me up and everything. I was going in and out of consciousness. The last thing I heard was Gio telling them where to take me.

"I know someone who can help but it's not on this side of town. Will he make it?"

The paramedics looked concerned but nodded yes. They knew if I didn't survive this, it would be hell to pay. I ended up being hooked up to everything possible to keep me alive.

In between my eyes opening and closing, we had finally arrived to the hospital. They gradually took me out of the ambulance and into the emergency room. I heard my vitals being shouted out then someone's voice I thought I would never hear again.

Giselle...then I was out.

Giselle

We quickly got Eli into surgery and luckily they were only minor gunshot wounds. I feel like they didn't shoot to kill but to scare. The bullets were removed easily from his side. This is some sloppy work if done by a professional.

I learned how to handle a gun as soon I was able to. Sometimes living in the city knowing just basic self-defense wasn't enough anymore. I carried pepper spray, a blade and a gun. Working on this part of town, you can never be too sure of things. Also, if you're gonna fire a gun, you need to know more than just the basic shooting styles. I've learned how to injury and kill if ever needed.

Eli's monitors continued to beep as I sat by his bedside. Surgery had been successful and we were just waiting for him to wake up. The sedatives we gave knocked him out cold. We want him to get some rest before the pain starts to kick in.

Gio made sure to get Eli assigned to me and only me. I'm just surprised they came to this hospital and not a fancy one with private rooms. I know this has something to with Starr dating Gio recently. She must've told him what hospital I worked in.

"Giselle, is that really you?" Eli started to groan and moan clearly still drugged. I got up to check his vitals again to make sure things were going back to normal.

"Hello, Mr. Marino. You're in the hospital right now for gunshot wounds. I just checked your vitals and everything seems to be stable. I'll go get the Dr now, so he can go over your status more in detail."

I tried to leave his side but he touched my hand. I turned to look down and bring my face towards him. He just stared deep into my eyes with a slight smile across his mouth. All I could think about was how much I missed him through all the bullshit.

"I'm sorry," escaped his lips as a knock on the door startled me.

When the door opened, Gio stood in the entry way looking onto Eli's hospital bed. His eyes lit up when he saw his best buddy was awake. I looked at Gio with arms crossed. I had questions that need to be answered.

"Why did you bring him here? Isn't this a little out of the way?"

Gio rubbed the back of his head and let out a nervous chuckle. I was so ready for him to start explaining until the Dr came into the room.
