"and when she's free, she'll lay on her back, staring up at the darkening sky, longing to touch the
stars" -wings; april 23rd
I've been writing poetry for four years. My muse? My girlfriend. The one on the left in the picture above is her. I'm the queer kid on the right.
She inspires me to be a better person, and to walk my own path, for my own sake. That being said, some of my poetry is about her. Most are about me. I invite all of you to take a step forward into my life, into my thought process. To walk the steps of a queer black girl who bleeds and cries and aches just like all of you do. Too often do we read something and feel a detachment to the author, as if we're reading fiction or an internet story from some obscure author and not feel a connection. It's a waste of words and imagination to not immerse yourself. I ask you guys to put yourself in my shoes as you take in my words.
My poetry isn't anything special, I consider myself to always be a step behind someone better. There are a million other poetry books out on Wattpad and other sites that are better. And so, I'm always improving, always working. The poems here have been heavily revised, especially the poem I took a quote from up above. I've written three versions of wings, all of them revised. I'll probably only post the final version.
I've typed enough here. Introductions are hard to write. I got philosophical for a sec. Hope you like my poetry.
