I had christened him, 'Dobby'.

A decision of pure midnight madness and one that I loathe yet adore.

He suited the name, my beautiful kitten; he had already developed a devotion for taking bites out of my pink cupcake socks, so he was definitely acting the part.

Mrs Lyons, the snobbish lady next door almost screamed with shock when Dobby hopped the fence into her pristine back garden, trampling her perfectly planted petunias in the process.

I suppose...he is quite odd-looking. With his oversized ears and undersized tail.

Yet, as I carry him to the local pet store to collect some supplies, he looks like the most adorable creature in the world.

With his tail
Wrapped around my hand
I feel like
The greatest in the land

I had already picked out a baby pink bed, a beautiful ruby red collar with a personalised nameplate and multiple snacks and treats. Yet, as I look at the vast array of toys in-front of me, I am clueless.

"Decisions, decisions" I say out loud, "Which one do you prefer, the mouse or the bell?"

Dobby looks at me with those big, innocent eyes- no doubt that he has no idea what I just said.

"Baxter prefers the bell"

I flip around, nearly tumbling to the ground.

And there he is.

Stormy blue?

Well, I must've said
The words out loud
Because the look on his face
Was almost proud?

"You remember me!?" He exclaims and I give one, short, nod. Of course I do. I couldn't forget him if I tried.

He stands there, kinda smug; I look down to his feet and there lays a pug. A beautiful, shiny black pug.

"You can pet him if you like" his soft voice says, "he's quite a docile fellow".

I drop to my knees
and do just that
Then I remember
Dobby the cat

"T-this is Dobby...I found him a few days a-ago on the street" I stutter a bit when I say the phrase; only now in front of Stormy Blue does the name sound quite odd.

But he laughs anyway and says, "how adorable"- though whether that was to me or the cat is anybody's guess.

"Oh", he seems to realise something, "My name is Matthias by the way".

Matthias
Matthias
Matthias
Matthias

Oh what a beautiful name.

"A-and mine is Cornelius Tapio...but you can call me T-tao" I quietly stutter back.

I hope my name is as mesmerising to him as his is to me...

Oh how I hope;
he feels the same.
Like seeing a rainbow,
In a sky full of rain.

In a sudden turn of events, we exchange numbers. He promises to text, and I cannot wait...

"Goodbye Cornelius"
"Goodbye Matthias"

And he walks away.

I never questioned,
Why he said my full name.
Knowing that after this meeting,
Things will never be the same.
