Bitter Sweet

Allison had Can tied to her trailer, scraping all the sweat off of him before it dried to a cruel crusty surface. She waited for the young man to bring out Casanova. The horse amazed her. She could read the cowboy's thoughts. He thinks Cass is too much horse for her. She chuckled at the fact that she used to ride broncs.

The sound of hooves clicking against the cement shattered her thoughts as she saw Casanova being led by the young man. He loaded Cass into the trailer and quietly closed the divider. As she loaded Can the young man said "You sure have your hands full now ma'am. I expected him to go to some bronc riding cowboy."

"Well he went to a bronc riding and reining cowgirl now didn't he?" She spat back.

"Thank you for everything!" She thanked the cowboys.

As Allison drove down her driveway she saw the familiar faces of her stallions Crimson Moon, Okey Dokey, Presumed Extra Easy, Playboy's Guilty and Hakkuna Matatta, each in their own paddocks. Allison parked the trailer beside the barn to drop the new comers off. Crim whinnied his welcoming as Can unloaded from the trailer. "Don't get on his bad side." Allison warned Can. "He can be a nasty one." She placed Can in one of the vacant stalls near the end of the barn and went back to bring Casanova to his new home. By now most of the mares were up by the gate in their paddock, watching the last horse unload from the trailer.

By the time both horses were settled, it was getting later and the horses needed to be brought in. Allison and her husband Josh, brought in all 36 of them. Including the stallions and foals. "Those are some fine looking colts!" Josh remarked inspecting Casanova and Canada Day.

"Which one is your favourite?" Allison asked.

"I would have to say Casanova. He's a striking bay. And it's ironic that his only marking is a heart shaped star on his face. Who's your favourite?"

"Casanova too."

Josh grabbed Allison's hand and they walked back to the log house together.
