"What in all of Lilcia. WAS THAT." Rayven said as she folded her wings in. The breeze shifted, causing Valkion to curl his wings in as well, leaving his sword on the ground.

"You call that crazy? Try watching the dream of a young Valathai trying to kill a madman." Valkion replied.

"Like you trying holding off Cirrus?"

"Gah! I didn't think my friend from little times was a sassy princess!"

"Valkion! For the one hundredth time, I don't like being called a princess! I would rather be reading in my room right now than go off on some crazy dream adventure!"

"Oh Rayven. You and I are so different."

It took some time before Rayven could adjust to living outside of Lilcian walls. She always thought that she would never explore beyond the City of Stars and Dreams, (where the palace was located.) She only knew of a live behind the walls. Without the protection of the city... who knows what trouble they could get into? Rayven didn't know how long she could trust Valkion before they both die in the abyss that is the land outside of the Lilcian walls.

As the sun started to set, Valkion had gathered some sticks and firewood and started to make a fire. Rayven stared at the crackling fire. The fire reminded her of something...

Who is at the door? Just looking at it could make anyone suspicious, if you trust no one. The door cracked open as fire spread rapidly, and Rayven could see a shadow in the flames engulfing the old palace.

"AAAAAAHHHH!" Rayven quickly got up. Valkion looked over at her, his eyes glinting. "Uh... What was that?" He asked.

"Just... Just a bad memory." Rayven said, looking at the dirt all over her hands. Ugh, yay, dirt.

Valkion looked back at the fire he was tending to. Staring into the flames, he was not going to be engulfed into a "memory" like Rayven. He saw what she saw because he used his dreamcatcher to see it. No memory was going to pop into Valkion's head. Not today.

About now, the sky was dark and it was night. Being a nocturnal breed of the dreamwatchers, he bravely flew out to find a forest below him. He so desperately wanted to search the forest of any threats, but a feeling in his throat was keeping him from doing that. Valkion thought of Rayven. Thought of Spirit North. Thought of...

Snap out of it! Valkion hasn't felt this way since when he was just a young child. He now felt so insecure, he could just feel all his problems falling out of him. I can't do this, I was not fit for doing any sort of thing like this. I know this wasn't the right choice. What did I get myself into this time?

Dazed, Valkion few back to the camp. As he landed, he noticed the fire was out. Rayven was asleep, peacefully sleeping for what looked like the first I she ever got a peaceful moment to herself. Peace felt like an unfamiliar concept to him. There was no peace after Cirrus took over.

Something inside was just getting to him. A rush of unsatisfaction came through his spine. He fell to his knees. Catching himself, he looked around. Nothing. What is happening to me? Valkion anxiously looked around. He saw his sword sitting by the burnt out fire.

Valkion looked at the black, starry sky. Sadness filled his head. I wish we could go back. Spirit North must be so worried... What has happened to this world?

He went to grab his sword. Once the blade was in his hand, he felt more secure than what he was feeling before. Slowly, he went to sleep in the cold darkness that covered the sky.

"Rayven! Wake up! Something's wrong, you need to get up!"

"Wha.. What? Valkion... I was in the middle of a dream......" Rayven opened her eyes slowly. She blink. Then she took a good look at Valkion. His light skin had been damaged with a small cut on his face and his hands had bruises on them. She also noticed a reddish-purple mark on his neck.

Rayven bolted upwards. "Valkion, what have you done?! Did you fight? Is Cirrus here?!"

"Not necessarily, but there are people that ambushed me while I was waking up. I believe we are in great danger if you don't get up."

"Okay, I'm up."

Rayven dusted off herself as she got up from the ground. She saw the fire was burnt out, the sky was dark, and there was blood where Valkion was standing.

"I'm serious, Valkion, What did you do? Where is all this blood coming from?"

"I'll tell you later, Rayven. For now, we need to get out of here. The wound will clear up. Don't worry about me, worry about wether we will escape or not!"

Rayven turned her head to the sound of people running and shouting. She heard a fire crackling behind her. Valkion pushed her forward, sending her far from the burning flames.

"What are you doing?!"

"You have to move! Don't just stand there, run! Fly! Get away from danger!"

Rayven quickly obeyed Valkion even though he was of lower rank. She unfolded her wings and started flying, Valkion behind her.

"Okay. We should be safe soon. The blaze will attract attention, diverting it from us. If we hear south, we are sure to be safe because there is no one in sight."

"Are you sure that's a good thing?" Rayven asked.

"It is. If we can disappear, then we won't have to deal with these people."

"Fine."

Valkion and Rayven flew for a long time. They decided that when the sun rose, they would stop and find somewhere to rest.

Valkion looked nervously at his surroundings. He hoped they weren't attracting attention. That would bad, especially for Rayven. The sun was starting to rise, and they needed a place to stay.

What if we camped down there? No, too suspicious. Valkion could make out dark human-like shadows. They wanted to far from people, not by. Another thing that he was worried about what that his wound was really bad. He was able to ignore the pain earlier, but he couldn't do it now. The laceration was really getting through.

But before he could voice his concern, he fell into oblivion, surrounded by darkness, and unconscious.

The last thing he heard, was Rayven screeching.
