Severus Snape was standing guard when a brown, barn owl flew into him. “Stupefy.”  The owl fell with a thud on the forest floor.  He took the note tied to the owl’s leg.  He read the letter from Hermione and looked at Harry.  “Those stupid kids.  What have they gotten themselves into?”  He walked slowly toward the glowing red cage that imprisoned Harry, his black cloak billowing in the wind behind him.

Harry was on the floor, aching from the pain that he went through only a few minutes ago, when he heard footsteps coming toward him.  He would have sat up, but he was too weak, even to open his eyes.

“Potter, your friends Weasley and Granger are coming.”

That voice sounded familiar.  Then it came to him.  Snape was here.  He sat up, slowly, and looked around.  Snape was standing guard, but his back was to his cage.  Harry looked around and saw his wand.  “Maybe, if I bring it toward me, I could send Hermione a message,” Harry thought.  “Accio wand,” whispered Harry.  Surprisingly, his wand came to him.  He only had fifteen seconds to do this thing.  He sent his partonus out and whispered to it, “Message to Hermione.  Do not come looking for me.  No matter what, I am going to die.  Stay,” It had been fifteen seconds.  The Cruciatus curse came toward him.  He couldn’t stifle his cry of pain.  “Ahhh!”  He really hoped that the patronus didn’t pick that up.

“Well, well, well.  Somebody tried to get to his wand.  Isn’t that right?”  Voldemort taunted.

         “No.”

“You have a lying problem, Harry Potter.  This will get rid of it.  Crucio!”

“Ahhh!” Harry screamed.  He couldn’t stand it any more.   Harry fell to the ground in agony.

“You really need to get your bad habits fixed, or else this will keep happening to you.”

Harry looked up into Voldemort’s eyes.  He sat up on his knees and said, “Isn’t this already going to happen to me?”

“Right.  Well then I don’t need to have a reason to do this.  Crucio.”

“Ahhh!” Harry fell on his back.

“Good night Harry Potter.  Tomorrow is going to be a big day.”  Voldemort started walking away laughing.
