Terminology that I will use throughout the story

·         Assalaamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatu –May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon you

·         Wa’alaikumusalaam warahmatullahi wabarakatu –May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon you too

·         Hadith –sayings of the Prophet Muhammad {S.A.W}

·         Maaf –sorry

·         Allah maaf –Allah forgives

·         Sabr –patience

·         Athaan –call to prayers

·         Fajr – early morning prayer

·         Zuhr –afternoon prayer

·         Asr –late afternoon prayer

·         Maghrib –dusk prayer

·         Esha –evening prayer

·         Wudhu –ablution

·         Salaah –prayers

·         Jazakallah –thank you (literally, shukran means thanks –this is more of a prayer for the person)

·         Musallah –prayer mat

·         Jee –yes

·         Masjid –Mosque, holy place for prayer

·         Nikkah –Wedding ceremony

 ·         Apa –older sister

·         Bhai –brother

·         Abaya –long flowing, shapeless dress for a woman. Usually black

·         Kurtha –long, straight cut ‘dress’ for a man

·         Deen –religion

·         In Shaa Allah –if Allah wills

·         Masha Allah –a phrase expressing joy, and gratefulness to Allah

·         Alhamdulillah –All praises be to Allah

·         Dua –supplication

·         Imaan –belief

·         Qadr –power
