|Chapter Twenty Three|

"The fight is in a few days, so make sure you're rested up and not doing anything stupid, yeah? You already know that it's Mikhale," Kurt says.

"Yeah, I've seen him fight," Knox nods.

"Then you know he's definitely the most skilled competitor you've gone head to head against," Jack says.

He nods, untapping his hands since he just finished his workout. The guys have been getting really serious about the final fight. This is a make it or break it time, but all the tension is making me nervous, especially since I'm by far the least educated person here about what's going to happen in a few days. Going to Knox's fights and watching him train has given me a bit more information on how things work, but I still don't have everything down. Knox has been watching old fights at home on tape, specifically one's of Mikhale. He's so close to winning it all and wants to know what he's walking into. I know this would mean a lot to him and I'm supporting him every step of the way.

"I'm gonna get some air. I'll let you guys talk," I say and excuse myself.

Knox looks like he wants to come out with me, but I give him a reassuring look telling him that I'll be fine by myself for a minute.

Making my way out the door, dodging fellow crew members and bustling people, I walk outside and sigh. The air is crisp and cool enough that I can see my breath. Its late so the only light provided is from the moon and the streetlights. There's a couple cars parked along the curb and a person here and there milling about. Someone exits one of the cars that was parked at the curb and I get an unreasonable pang of unease. He approaches me as if asking for directions, but something in me doesn't feel right.

"You're Kat," the guy says as if disgusted.

"Well, yeah, but I was just-"

I turn around to head back inside, but stop in my tracks when I almost bump into someone. I gulp at his height and stature. He gives off a vibe of intimidation and is even almost as tall as Knox, but he doesn't have as much muscle. I gulp, eyes darting around to find the best escape route inside where Knox will protect me.

"I've been looking for you," the tall guy says with malice.

I turn to run inside, but he clamps a hand over my mouth. I go into full panic mode and my fight or flight instincts really kick in. I scream and kick, thrashing in his arms, but it's no use. I'm not strong enough to take him on. I try yelling for Knox, but I'm sure he's hit the showers by now and the rest of the guys are cleaning up. Tears prick my eyes at my utter hopelessness. My captor hoists me up and into the same black car the first man came out of. Something pinches at my arm and I turn to see a needle.

Before I even register it, darkness consumes me.

I wake tied to a chair. My neck hurts, my back hurts, everything hurts. I've gained half consciousness a couple times over the past few hours, but they always injected me to go back to sleep. I'm assuming it was some sort of ketamine type concoction. I wiggle my wrists, trying to find a way to get out of this and survey the room I'm in.
