Challenge

Here is an assignment I had to do in my creative writing class. The criteria was this: 10 words or less per sentence, no more than two syllables per word, present tense, second person narration, must reference at least one of the following: baseball, chores, flowers, driving. The scene had to be about some simple act that wouldn't, in the long run, affect anyone or anything.

This was very interesting to write and honestly quite strange (second person is awkward). If you decide to try this challenge, let me know, I would love to see what others come up with!

The alarm goes off and you sit up. You hit your head on you bunk bed. "Ow!" you cry. You rub your head and scowl. After a moment you sigh. You reach over to your night stand. You turn off the alarm. With a yawn you crawl out of bed. You walk to the kitchen, your shoulders slumped. Your movements are slow as you reach for as you reach for the cupboard. It is like you are growing toward the sun. You pour a bowl of cereal. Then you walk to the table and sit down. A moment later your phone buzzes. You have a message. You check the message, surprised. Who would be texting you this early in the morning? The text is from your girlfriend, Sally. It says, "Good morning!" You look out the window and smile. The sun is just rising over the mountains. There are no clouds in the sky. The horizon is a beautiful pinkish-purple. Yes, you think as you type a reply. It is a good morning.
