Gauri awoke to the beautiful rays of the sun whispering though the pristine white curtains. She was sore all over. She was not at all surprised after her ordeal yesterday. She looked around the spacious room.

She knew that this was a hospital. When she woke up earlier she had been surrounded by medical staff. She felt an unfamiliar warmth enclosing her hand. She looked down to find her hand clasped in a much larger one, tracing her gaze to the owner of the hand. She gasped in shock.

"Omkaraji," she whispered. He was leaning back against the chair. He looked tired. She wondered why he was there. After all, he hated her. She looked at him apprehensively. From the day that she met him he had always seemed angry. She observed him now, his long hair was now loose. he seemed much younger and definitely not as austere. He seemed to be resting peacefully. She never saw him relaxed. Despite everything he believed about her, he had saved, not only did he save her but he was here now. Does this mean that he accepted their marriage? Her thoughts flew back to their wedding. She could feel the warmth of his blood fill her parting. Instinctively she raised her hand and touched her forehead.

She recalled him lifting her in his arms and doing the pheras

She recalled him lifting her in his arms and doing the pheras. That was the moment she realised that she would love him forever. She looked at his face.

He had protected her

He had protected her. Saved her from the community that she had grown up with, who had turned against her. And more importantly saved her from the dishonour heaped on her by Kaali Thakur's lies. She knew that he disliked her immensely but the fact that he had saved her was a reflection of the person he was.

She felt tears sting her eyes and looked at the man in front of her, her husband. Her eyes welled. Shankarji had ensured her safety. She was overwhelmed with emotions. Her chest felt as if it was going to explode.

Omkaraji, her saviour. She was still afraid of his intimidating force. He exuded strength. She shifted slightly on the uncomfortable hospital bed. The slight movement causing her to gasp in pain. Her body sore all over.

Either the movement or the gasp was responsible for disturbing Omkara's slumber. His hand still enveloping hers. He looked up to her face and watched fear fill her eyes as she turned away.

"Gauri, I am not going to hurt you." he whispered, trying to calm the fear he saw fluttering in her eyes. She turned her gaze to him. His voice gentle. He had never spoken to her this way. He did not release the hold on her hand. She felt nervous.

"I know that you will not hurt me," she said.

He used his other hand to move the hair of her face. Lingering longer. She pressed her cheeks into the palm of his hand. Wanting the warmth of his strength to seep into her. He gathered her closer. Her head resting on his muscular shoulder. Tears still streaming down her eyes.

She picked her head up and looked at him.

"How did we manage to escape Kaali Thakur. I can't remember much of what happened." She asked.

He looked at her confused. How did Kaali Thakur come into the picture? Was he responsible for her condition? Did he give her the poison? He needed answers.

"Gauri,..." he was interrupted by the door bursting opened. She looked up stunned as a group of strangers burst into the room. She automatically grabbed hold of Omkara. He looked at her and turned to the door, where his entire family stood. He looked back at her, bewildered with her reaction. She was paralyzed on the spot, the menacing aura of fear holding her in a tightening grip.
