It was the weekend. Kids were playing and doing whatever kids do but, Cory stayed away from it all. He didn't have very many friends, all he had was his sister, Kennedy, and his best friend, Cristal Mane. She met him in the 3rd grade. They got along very quickly, but he never knew why. Cory was always very exclusive and usually never let anyone in. Cristal was kind of like that too, though not as exclusive as him of course. She had friends other than Cory, but she was closest to him and liked it that way.

Kennedy was quite close to him as well, but tended to not be there when he needed her. She always had something better to do, like hanging out with her friends and going out to her favorite places. Their parents were very distant. They were always either on business or they were only home for a few days before they had to leave again. They sent postcards on birthdays and such, but they were always a few days late (because mail).

Although Cory did not have much company he made due and was fine with what he had and wanted nothing more. Except for his parents. He always missed them, no matter how distant they were. Yet, he was still fine on his own. He was still alive, he could live his whole life without his parents and be fine. He still liked getting mail from them though, especially when he was a little kid. His birthday cards from his parents would always come two days late so he would wait two days before going out to get his birthday card (with his caretaker of course). Days like those were the some of the happiest memories he had. Nowadays, Cory wouldn't celebrate his birthday as much, he would barely even be able to remember if it weren't for Kennedy giving him a birthday cupcake in the morning or Cristal inviting him to her house to bake a cake. He usually never excepted the invitation. Cory usually forgot about his birthday card from his parents and Kennedy would bring it in for him. Kennedy was almost the complete opposite, she always remembered her birthday and had one of the biggest and happiest birthday parties in their neighborhood, but she too usually forgot about her birthday card and she wouldn't remember until Cory's birthday (his birthday is August 3rd, so a month and thirteen days after).

Hello again! Hope you liked this first chapter! I worked pretty hard on it, but it's fine if you don't like it. Just leave your critiques in the comments, if you want, I'm not forcing you to. If you do though, please don't be too harsh, I'm not very good with criticism or anything like that. Thanks! :•)
