Never Give Up

Surprises!

I look silently back at our home the two suitcases in my hands. I turn away silently neatly organising my bags in the roomy boot of our Toyota, and quickly run to the paddock were Parzo was grazing. I let out a whistle and he walked sluggishly over to me, he understood what was happening.

I put the halter on Parzo even though he didn't need one, and opened the gait wide letting him out and securely locking it after me. I clicked my tongue motioning for him to follow me, he did obediently. What I loved about Parzo he was so easy to work with and he understood everything, he was perfect. I ordered him to stay as I unlocked the trailer, and lowered the ramp, he slowly made his way up and I closed him in.

A tear dropped down my face, I wiped it away and double checked the trailer, and car that everything was secure and I hadn't forgotten anything. I hopped in the car silently avoiding my mothers eyes as she closed the house door, and secured my seat belt. Mum walked over to my window with calm eyes

"Sarah, Jayden." She started. "I am so so sorry about what I dumped on you yesterday, the news and everything! It wasn't right. The way I yelled at you Jayden, wasn't right but you are still grounded" mum said, she truly was apologetic. "So as an apology, I would like you to come around to the back of the house, I have a surprise" she grinned. I looked at Sarah and raised my eyebrow. I opened my door and nodded to mum on the way past.

As Sarah and I turned the corner to the back of the house we heard yipping! we looked confused and started speed walking, my face was shocked at what I saw. There in front of me were two puppies! One King Charles cavalia, and one Australian Shepard he was mixed with white and grey and had a cookies and cream ice-cream like colour around the eye.

We looked at mum. "Pick" is all she said. I sprinted as fast as I could to the Shepard, and slowing wrapped my arms around his small body. He was adorable, Sarah seemed happy with the Cavalia. "well?" Said mum. "Thank you thank you thank you!" I screeched. I thought of names for the pup, I wanted it to be original like Parzo. I looked at the pup over and over, I think Oaky suited him the best. "Sarah what have you named your girlie?" I smiled. "This is Charlize"

exclaimed Sarah. "Cool! This is Oaky" I smiled. "Let's go! Parzo his waiting" mum laughed. I walked to the car with Oaky playing in my arms, what a squirm.

I put Oaky in first and then I hopped in closing the door behind me. Oaky, had no manners as he jumped all over me and licked my face, I laughed as I really didn't care. The car took off and our house was nothing but a speck. After about 30mins Oaky calmed down, lied on my lap and started to doze. I pulled my phone out as it started to vibrate, it was a unknown called and I answered it curiously. "Hi" I said. "Hello there" an unknown voice said. "Uh, who's this?" I asked quietly. "Luke" he said. I relaxed. "Oh hello there" I laughed. "How'd you get my number?" I asked. "It's called white pages" Luke answered laughing. I immediately felt dumb. "Right, of course" I said. "Why'd you call me anyway?" I asked. "I wanted to ask were you lived?" Luke laughed. "Oh why?" I teased. "Oh, um. Cause you know. Just...." He stuttered. "26 Forrest Lake Road, I'm the only one in my neighbourhood who has a paddock and access to the beach and Forrest." I laughed. "Oh, thanks" he answered. "Do you wanna, ah- catch a smoothie at 3?" said Luke nervously.

"Sure" I said calmly. "Star Bucks at 3. I'll see you there" I said smiling. "Okay awesome" he sighed of relief, I lightly chuckled. "So let me see if I will have enough time, so I will arrive at my new house at 12" I said still disliking the way I said new 'house'. "So that will be great timing!" I exclaimed. Oaky jumped as I yelled the last phrase accidentally, I gave an apologetic look. "You seem very excited." Chuckled Luke. I laughed. "Maybe" I said. "Bye. Luke." I answer. "Bye. Jayden" he answered and ended the call.
