-J-
The random call from Michael brought a lot of old feelings to the surface and I'm not liking it at all. I knew I wasn't over him, but I didn't know I was still this stuck on him.
"Jacey it's been months, he's like famous, why would he just up and call you? Fame changes everyone." Syd warned as we made our way out of the university.
"He still seems the same." I muttered as I opened the car door and she rolled her eyes at me.
"How about we go to the mall tonight?" She asked after a few minutes in the car.
"Can't."
"Why not?"
"I have a date."
"Dear God.. " she gushed, holding her head in her hands. "It's with Blake isn't it?"
"What's so bad about him?"
"He's creepy!!"
I laughed, "whatever Syd, you're just jealous. "
"Please," she rolled her eyes, sounding rather bitter. I decided to ignore it and we didn't speak the rest of the ride to her house. She muttered a "thanks" but quickly escaped the car.
I rode quietly a few minutes until my phone rang. "Hello?"
"Hi Jacey,"
"Oh hey Blake, what's up?"
"I um, I'm sorry but.. I can't make it tonight. I'm sorry."
"No no, it's fine," I felt shot down but didn't let him notice it.
"I'll make it up to you, I promise."
"Okay, sure." I smiled to myself.
"Bye Jacey,"
"Bye Blake,"
I turned my car around and made my way to Sydney's house.
"Blake ditched... How about that shopping trip?" She smiled and shook her head.
"See, he ditched you! He's a bad guy."
"Syd, he had something come up. Stop jumping to conclusions." I sounded a bit harsher than I planned to.
"You just seemed really happy with Michael..."she trailed off and I felt my heart lurch. Was it really that visible how happy he made me?
"Like you said fame changes everyone I guess."
"Does he seem different?"
"A little," I lied. He's exactly the same, nothing seems different.
"I still think you should give him a chance." She muttered as I parked the car and we got out.
We window shopped for a while before we actually did any shopping. We stopped by the Starbucks in the mall lastly.
I felt awkward as a few younger teenage girls were staring at us, mainly me i think.
"Do you know them?" Syd asked quietly as she gazed back at them and they looked away quickly.
"I have no idea who they are..." They whispered amongst themselves until a couple of them walked over to us.
"A-are you Michael's ex girlfriend?" The one with braces asked. I noted she was wearing a 5sos t shirt. Oh god. What do I say?
"I uh.. Yeah, how'd you know?"
"A picture leaked of you two.. He talked about you on a radio interview a couple days ago." The other one with dyed hair informed me.
Sydney had slipped away somehow as I looked and she wasn't there.
"Do you still talk to him?" The one with braces asked.
"Only a couple times."
"Do you still like him?" The one with dyed hair asked.
"Listen, I don't want to be rude but it's really none of your business. Now please just... Leave me alone." They stared at me a couple seconds.
"You broke his heart!" The one with dyed hair looked like she was about to lunge at me.
"He's the one who broke up with me! If anything I should be heartbroken!" I said quickly, trying not to cry.
"You are heartbroken, aren't you?" Braces asked.
"I - um.. Maybe a little but I really don't want to talk about it..." I wiped at a tear that fell down my face.
"Now will you please leave me alone?" With that they nodded slowly and stalked back to their group.
"What was that about?" Sydney scared me half to death.
"Something about Michael being heartbroken about the breakup, apparently he misses me."
"Do you want to see him?"
"Kinda."
"Good," she smiled, "Because I got us tickets for 5sos' show in a couple weeks."
