“I’ve prepared for this moment!” Stiles shouted after we debated on what to do. Then he ran out the room. Park gave me a questioning look, almost asking ‘why is he your friend?’. I simply shrugged as Stiles came back in the room with a big old brown bag. “Well, actually it was a zombie apocalypse I was prepared for, but this’ll help too!”

He threw the heavy bag off his shoulder causing a loud clinking sound. Like metal hitting metal. Parker and I watched with curiosity as he opened the bag. Inside the bag was tons of stuff. Weapons, food, water, and walkie talkies. First he gave each of us a walkie talkie, the good kind. The kind that could reach from a far distance. I’m talking miles! Mine had my name on it, but Parker’s didn’t.

“Why is this in my house? Did you bring this in my house?!” I ask, but he ignores me.

“Why doesn’t mine have my name on it?” She asked as she examined the walkie talkie in her hand, looking at the top, bottom and sides.

“Cause I don’t like you.” Stiles replied without hesitation.

“YOU-” Parker began to shout, but I interrupted them.

“Now is not the time guys!” They both gave me apologetic looks and stopped fighting. “Alright, so what else should we get?” Stiles then grabbed three book bags out his the big brown one and he began stuffing water and food in each of them.

“Help a guy out, would you?” He said as he passed me my (I assume) bookbag. I listened and did so. Then I threw the bag over my back and started towards the door.

“Now I get to say it,” I heard from behind me before being pulled again.

“What now?” I snapped.

“We need protection dummy!” Parker said throwing her arms in the air.

It just hit me that we did. As if on cue, Stiles threw me a quiver with 12 arrows in it and a bow. In his other hand was a bat.

“You did archery a while back, so there you go. And I have a bat. You” he paused and pointed at Parker, “take the ax, I guess.” He shrugged.

And finally, we were outside. It was 5% more calm than earlier. But now that I wasn’t getting just the view of outside from the window, I now see it’s worse than I thought.

“Wow,” I heard Stiles say. “Kinda reminds me of the upside down.”

I glared at him and Parker face palmed. Was he seriously going to make a tv show reference right now?

“You know,” he started, thinking I didn't get it. “From Stranger Thin-” he now realized we got it and sighed. “Bad timing? Yup, bad timing. Sorry.” He said quickly.

I adjusted the bow and quiver hanging off my shoulder, and tightened the straps of the bookbag on my back.

“Alright guys.” I said facing the both of them. We were in the middle of the street in front of my house that look a little beat up. But thankfully, not too much. “You know the plan.”

“But what if we don’t make it back it time?” Park asked, fearing showing through her voice and eyes. “What if you get hurt? What if we get lost and another earthquake starts? What if-”

“We can’t think about what ifs what could happen, we gotta think about what is happening right now. And besides, we’ve all lived here our whole lives. We know our little town.” I stated. “But if I die-”

“Don’t say things like that Alec!” Stiles shouted.

“Just let me finish,” I said, “If I die, I just want to know one thing.” I said and this made them lean in closer. “What’s your real name?”

The two laughed at my question and Stiles shook his head.

“It’s a good thing you’re not dying because you will never find out.” He said laughing.

Then that chill went up my spine again. Nothing about it was good.

Nothing.
