The Letter

Allison's POV

Melissa sent a video to the Instagram Mellisoney (Malissa + Allison + Laney) group chat two days ago featuring Park Jimin at a BTS concert looking so tired and worn out, barely able to catch a breath and stay standing. It broke Allison's heart. She made a joke about sending a letter to BigHit asking to be their Tour Mom and they all laughed about it, but that was two days ago and Allison hadn't stopped thinking about it. So now she's camped out on the sofa, laptop balanced on her folded legs, typing up a draft of a letter for BigHit about sleep and diet and motherly love and 20 something year old boys. Moe was in the kitchen, Laney was in class all the way at college. She hadn't told them yet what she was doing because Allison wasn't a hundred percent sure that she was actually going to send it, so she kept it to herself for a bit. Twenty minutes into her drafting process, Laney sent a text to iMellisoney (their iMessage group) that linked to a study on how much sleep and love working young men need with the caption "The boys need a MOM." They laughed, but Allison actually looked into the study and decided she should use it in her letter to BigHit.

After an hour, she felt that the letter was as good as it was going to get. It actually sounded pretty persuasive and not like a joke. She really wanted to send it. Like, really really.

She took a deep breath and then sent a text in iMellisoney that read, "Guys I just typed up a letter about being a Tour Mom and I think I'm actually gonna send it."

Moe: You did not

Laney: LOLLLL I want to read it!!

Moe: Are you serious

Laney: ALLISON SEND IT RIGHT NOW OMG

Allison: sdjhfsdjhfjk

A few seconds later, Melissa burst into the living room laughing. "Did you really write a letter?"

"This is so embarrassing," Allison cried, covering her face with her hands. Meanwhile, Moe grabbed the laptop and was reading the letter out loud.

"'Dear Bang PD nim, Manager Sejin, and everyone else at BigHit,'" she read, before dissolving into laugher again. Both phones were now blowing up with texts.

Laney: Allison!!!

Laney: Are you serious!!!

Laney: I want to see!!!!

Laney: What!!!!!!!

Allison snatched the laptop back with a yell. "I'm going to send a picture in the group chat, you can read it there!" she said.

After Melissa and Laney read the letter, the three worked together on some wording and grammar and then...it was ready to be sent. They were really going to do this.

"BigHit is going to think we're the biggest crackheads..." Laney said over FaceTime that night. Allison was holding in her hands a sealed envelope, stamped and everything, addressed to the UN Headquarters in New York because that was the last location they knew of for the boys. They'd made the letter look and sound as professional as possible.

The next day, Allison went with her mom to Publix under the guise of being a good daughter with the real purpose of depositing their precious letter in a mailbox. That done, all that was left was waiting. Allison knew it was probably dumb to think that BigHit would read the letter, or even possibly consider it, but there was still a tiny bit of her that hoped they would hear her.

Allison wasn't sure how fast mail traveled, but the following days were filled with nerves and shaky fits of laughter whenever she thought about the letter. Oh gosh, what if sending it was a mistake? Well, it wasn't hurting anyone. It wasn't like anyone was actually going to read it anyway. Right?

Laney's POV

Though the video broke Laney's heart too, she really thought Allison was joking about the tour mom idea. It was funny, and so out of this world. Unheard of. BigHit wouldn't hire young women to "take care" of BTS. They took care of them just fine. For one, the members were their own person, cable of making their own decisions and knowing their limits. Second, Laney didn't believe for a minute that BigHit treated them poorly in any way. But that didn't mean the members still weren't working themselves too hard. Even knowing their limits, she knew BTS was willing to sacrifice for their fans.

But it was still fun to think about. To entertain the idea that they could possibly get hired by BTS and get to hang with them on tour. Obviously her wildest dream, but fun to think about just the same. A groupie for the biggest boyband in the world.

Laney was super proud of Allison for the letter though. Even knowing that BigHit probably wouldn't read it, Laney had to give it to Allison for writing such a compelling argument. She had down the egos, logos, and pathos, pulled out research studies, rounded off with a counter argument and then a rebuttal, and concluded everything so nicely that Laney wanted to hire Allison to write all of her papers from now on.

Melissa's POV

Melissa still couldn't believe Allison actually wrote that letter and that they'd actually sent it in. That was crazy! She couldn't imagine actually living with BTS. Being in the presence of such beauty all the time...absolutely wild. She laughed every time she thought about it. And then she'd watch that video of Jimin gasping for breath at the Hamilton concert and stop laughing immediately. Like that actual mom in LA said, Melissa wanted to wrap Jimin in a blanket and feed him good food. Such a hard worker, all of them were such hard workers, they deserved sleep and rest and full tummies and good company.
Melissa really hoped BigHit saw the letter. She really hoped they would consider it. Even if they didn't hire Allison and Laney and her, she hoped they hired someone with the express purpose of making the boys of BTS feel like they were home.
