I liked how persistent he was on being so nice and sweet to me. I was wondering about all the things and mysteries he could be hiding. I could get lost in those eyes; they were like black holes that just suck you in.

"Can I call you Mitch?" I asked.

"Why?" he asked back.

"Because I like the name Mitch and it's short for Mitchel." I said back, smirking at him.

"Well okay... I guess." He said trying to laugh off that he was blushing.

In order for me not to notice that he was red, he copied me by saying,

"Than that means that I can call you Haze because it's short for Hazel and I like that name"

I laughed a little.

"And you honestly match with that name. Haze, damn. That's a cool name." He said smiling.

It was cute that he tried so hard to impress me and honestly, my family only calls me Haze but with him, it just felt right.

It felt like we were walking for ages. I watched the little moves Mitch would make and I found out by just watching him walk with me to class that he was popular because everyone said hi to him or gave him a little fist bump.

Once we walked up to the door of class he sat all the way in the back and started talking to these other guys. He went to wave me over because there was an open seat right next to him but the teacher stopped me right in my tracks.

"You aren't gonna get away from me that easily. Stay right here till everyone comes into class." the man said.

I was guessing he was Mr. Lane because he was the only adult in the class.

"And no, you're not in trouble, you're just new so you have to introduce yourself to the class." He said.

Once everyone was seated, I noticed that the seat next to Mitchel still wasn't taken so that was good because he's my only friend at this school right now.

"Good morning class." Mr. Lane said,

"This is our new student, Hazel. Introduce yourself." He said looking at me with a huge smile plastered on his face.

My anxiety started to kick in and I started to slightly sweat. I was playing with the drawstrings on my hood and finally spoke, trying to get my words together.

"So I'm Hazel, I'm 16 and moved here from New York." I said trying not to freak out.

"Why did you leave New York. It's so much better there." some girl in the front said.

"Well, my family is divorced so I came here with my dad to start over." I said to her trying not to think of all the bad things I've done back in New York.

I kept my cool and insisted that I could sit down.

I sat next to Mitchel and he asked,

"Hey, I saw you fidgeting a bit up there. You okay?"

"Yeah. Just my anxiety but I'm working on it." I said back to his question.

He understood and nodded his head.

I watched him take out his book from the little bag he had full of his school supplies, or at least a couple of books and some pens and pencils. I thought it was weird that I watched him so frequently. All the littlest things he would do just made me have butterflies. I know it's only been like, my first hour of school but I've already taken a liking to this guy.

I soon figured out that this was Geometry class because of all the shapes and figures around the room. I just sat in class taking a couple of notes and such because I took some advanced classes last year so I kind of know what is happening.

I watched Mr. Lane as he wrote notes on the board but every once in awhile I would catch little glances of Mitch looking at me.

I just loved how he did little things to try and catch my attention. He looked like an angel in the perfect lighting that was hitting him through the window so effortlessly.

He was so perfect, yet so unaware of it.

I didn't even notice that the bell rang and that Mitchel was standing right infront of me. I got out of my little day dream and stood up.

"Here," I said, handing him my schedule,

"Those are the rest of my classes if you were wondering."

"You wanna know something really funny Haze?" Mitchel asked.

"What's up Mitch?" I asked questioning him a little.

"We have all the same classes together! We are that one in a million that gets stuck together!" He said excitedly.

I giggled at his enthusiasm and thought

'Wow, I have all the same classes with him. The most perfect guy that puts almost no effort into his looks and well being. This must be a dream. I love California and never wanna leave.'
