She waited for the nightfall,
when the streets were calm and quiet
she packed all her belongings
and left home that night
before stepping out the door
she saw her reflection in the mirror
deep down, she knew
now nothing could steer her.
It was then she heard the voices;
trying to break and shatter
you can't do anything, they said
as you're too small to matter
but tonight she was not afraid
her thoughts weren't entwined
the boundaries only existed,
in a life, she left behind.
