Black Lives

As I watch the tv
And surveying the living room
My mind searching for a distraction
The world is falling
Questioning what the world thinks
As I remember my history
Blacks that struggled through blood sweat and tears
Memories of the blood falling down their backs like they were part of the Nile flowing downstream.
We were striped of our dignity, pride and confidence.
As we run away from what we fear we had against black and blue.
Our minds wondering what we did
People just saw the color of our skin
Thinking that we were not human
We are the same kind made from the same source as each other.
Our black children running scared of what will happen
We all need to know the rights
Of our free black men and women.
Black lives are important too.
