Chapter Twelve

~ Maddox's POV~

"YOU BASTARD!" Luffy raged as the admiral stepped away from Robin's frozen form as hot tears of rage rolled down my cheeks. Oz, Cog and Horace all had bright glowing eyes mirroring my rage. The gloves on my hands began to glow hot and I reached for the massive steel wrench at my side in a daze.

"Don't yell, she'll live if you defrost her carefully." The admiral said simply, "But her body has become quite fragile, so be careful. If her body is broken, she'll die...for example." He drew back his fist preparing to strike Robin.

"NO!" I screamed as the wrench in my hand began to glow hot from the heat emanating from my gloves.

"If you smash like this..." The admiral swung at Robin's frozen form.

Luffy darted forward, everyone else panicked unable to move and I drew back my arm preparing to send my now burning wrench into the Admiral's face. I hurled the spinning wrench just as Luffy managed to pull Robin from harm's way. My glowing wrench spun wildly before slicing through the Admiral's frozen form. There was a hiss and steam rose into the air from where the hot wrench sliced clean through the Admiral. It returned to me and I caught it in my grip as the wrench began to turn back to its normal color as it cooled.

It flared again turning burning hot in my tight grip. "Horace." My voice was calm despite the rage burning inside of me, there was a way to fix Robin we just had to get her away from here. "Fire canon." Extending my free hand with the glowing hot glove I pointed in the direction of the admiral.

The robotic dog leapt forward before planting his feet firmly in the ground taking on the stance of a dog in play mode his front paws splayed out before him low to the ground with his tail sticking up wagging. There was a brief roar from inside of him as the canon charged up before he opened his mouth launching a barrage of tiny flaming balls at The Admiral.

Usopp darted forward and took Robin from Luffy before the Admiral could try and stomp on her in Luffy's arms. He screamed in terror as he carried her off at a sprint trying to avoid the balls of fire back to where Nami and Chopper were standing. As the flaming balls got within range of the Admiral they all exploded causing him to falter a few steps back as the air around him filled with thick heavy black smoke.

"Cog!" Before I could shout out an order for my rooster I noticed Luffy on his feet, holding his hand out to halt me. "Luffy?"

"Usopp! Chopper! Run to the ship. Treat Robin and save her!" He turned to me, "Help them, Maddie."

I bit my lip not wanting to leave them all to face the Admiral without me. They'd need attacks with heat to keep themselves from getting frozen. "Okay." I reluctantly bowed my head before turning to Horace, "Stay and help Luffy."

"Woof." Horace responded wagging his tail happily.

"Oz, Cog! With me!" I turned and bolted after Usopp and Chopper.

Cog leapt into my arms as I ran and Oz galloped along behind me. We reached the ship shortly after Usopp and Chopper and I found them in bathroom trying to defrost Robin with warm water.

"She...can't breathe, can she?" Usopp asked worried as they struggled to thaw her out.

"I think she's probably in a state of suspended animation." Chopper responded with a sniffle.

"Then won't she die if we don't hurry up?!" Usopp panicked.

"But if we warm her too rapidly her body will break." Chopper cried. "We need to restore her body temperature from the inside."
