"Are you sure you weren't high off your bonkers?" Gil asks after I explained what happened a few nights ago.
"I'm pretty fucking sure." I grumbled opening my milk carton. "His mother might be abusive."
"I mean Everett's family seem fine. His parents always kiss before one leaves for work. Plus they always laugh during dinner." Gil explains as I take a sip from my milk.
"But it seems frequent. You should of seen Everett. He looked...I don't know. I know what it's like Gil." I whispered trying to forget the abuse. Gil grabbed my hand which made me glance up at him.
"It wasn't your fault, Naomi. How about this: I check it out with my father and if it seems sketchy then I will talk to Everett about it," Gil proposed.
After a moment of silence, I finally complied, "Okay fine."

"Let's go do Karaoke." Nash suggests making my brother shrug and simply agree. It took them 30 minutes to just do that.
"Are you sure?" I piped in causing there attention to focus on me.
"Yeah, right?" River furrows his eyebrows in confusion. Slowly, he backed out of the idea.
"River, shut up. We are doing it." My brother hushes River making him close his mouth. I see Everett open his mouth in protest but sighed by my brothers face.
"Naomi do you want to join?" Everett asks with a glint in his eye.
I shook my head and picked up a magazine, "I don't want to ruin boys night."
Everett's face scrunched and responded quickly, "You wouldn't ruin it. I think you would make it better." I glanced up from my magazine to him and lifted an eyebrow.
"Everett, do not play with my sister's feelings." Jeremiah says protectively with a slight threatening tone.
"Wha-What? I would never- That was freshman me, dammit." Everett stammers his face heating up slightly which made me laugh.
"Everett still has feelings for Naomi." Nash teases which made me choke on the Capri-sun I was drinking. While I was having a coughing fit, Everett continued denying his crush on me.
"Can we just go to karaoke?" Everett says sheepishly while running the back of his neck. The boys nodded and side eyed me thinking I wouldn't notice. My cheeks heated up and I glanced away from the boys. Nash opened his mouth in realization and was about to say something when my brother shut him a look that says "Shut the hell up and don't say anything." Nash nodded as if he got it but I knew he was smiling as big as a cow on the inside.
"Alright lets go, you included Yogi." Jeremiah tosses his car keys in the air and we head out.

Nice for What by Drake blasted through the karaoke club. I started dancing when my favorite part came up. I saw my brother eyeing me regretting his decision. I pulled my brother out of his friend group to the dance floor and we began to dance. The boys soon joined us on the floor after they sign the book. I see Everett flipping through the pages in complete confusion. He ran his hands through his hair getting stressed out by the choices.
"Naomi, go help your boyfriend," Jeremiah teases making me hit his shoulder.
"We aren't dating," I whispered harshly and rolled my eyes.
"I mean not yet." Jeremiah laughs and pinch my cheeks as I swat them away.
"We won't date. I don't want to date at the time being." I whisper quietly taking a glance at Everett.
"Naomi, he isn't like Tayvion. He will not hurt you." I glance back at Jeremiah and see him peering down at me.
"I'm scared." My voice slightly cracks and I knew I was ruining the night. Jeremiah shoves me into his chest and I began to hold his shirt close to me.
"Is everything okay?" Everett asks as he make his way over.
"Yup." I mumble wiping my eyes for a quick moment.
A voice boom through the speakers and called Nash's name. Nash ran up on the stage and greeted the crowd as if this was a concert. Music began to play and Nash sang along with so much passion in his heart. This continued for all the boys including my brother when it finally was Everett's turn. I watch him walk slowly to the stage and heard Drake's Hold on We're Going Home. The others suck so I was expecting Everett to be horrible. Not that much of high expectations. Immediately my thoughts were crushed. His voice began in these beautiful notes which caused my mouth to be open.
I got my eyes on you, you're everything that I see.
I want your high love and emotion, endlessly.
I can't get over you, you left your mark on me.
I want your high love and emotion, endlessly.Cos' you're a good girl and you know it.
You act so different around me, yeah.
Cos' you're a good girl and you know it.
I know exactly who you should be, yeah. His eyes found me in the crowd and I felt enchanted in them. He repeated the chorus and my brother screamed in enthusiasm.
Look at all this fake love, we're a world above it all.
Earthquake love, everybody said we'd fall.
We're two fingers to the philistines ill advise,
inconsistant, always preaches never excercise.
Stuck it out when all the world was throwing questions at us,
we never listened cos the chemistry would counteract us.
She liked the best weed, rarer than a unicorn.
I thank the earth, moon, stars under she was born. His voice sent shivers down my spine and I screamed from how shook I was. I closed my eyes and began to sing along. He finished and immediately the crowd chanted. Everett blushed as he exited the stage. I clapped as he made his way to Jeremiah who stood next to me. The way his eyes turned to a beautiful lighter blue when he was excited made me smile slightly.
No.
No.
I can't like him again.
Not again.
