CHAPTER THREE !

SPINNING OUT

  ————✩ ————

"ALL RIGHT, NEXT TWO! Stilinski, Erica, let's go! The wall." Those had been Coach's words before Stiles rushed onto the climbing structure while Erica seemed to be taking more time to start climbing. Astrid could easily notice Erica was struggling more than Stiles who, without a care in the world, had already finished climbing the structure and was slowly going down.

On the other hand, Erica stilled in the middle of the way up. There was no way in hell this was comfortable.

"Erica? Dizzy? Is it vertigo?" Surprisingly, or rather unsurprisingly since it was coach Finstock we were talking about, the last sentence had been said with humor. How could people be mocking others without difficulty?

"Vertigo's a dysfunction of the vestibular system of the inner ear. She's just freaking out." a redhead answered the Coach snidely. Astrid's head turned to her, furrowing her brows. How did she know that? It didn't particularly seem like common knowledge.

"Erica?" Now, people were beginning to laugh at the whole situation even if Erica's difficulties were nowhere near funny. Teenagers....

"I'm fine... " Erica managed to say even though she was now visibly shaking while holding on for dear life.

"Coach, maybe it's not safe. You know, she's epileptic." a girl she had seen Scott with a few times told the coach. This information only added to Astrid's bewilderment at the others laughing.

Coach sighed exasperated "Why doesn't anybody tell me this stuff??", then, in a gentler tone, he added "Erica, y-you're fine. Just-just kick off from the wall. Th-there's a mat to catch you. Come on."

Erica distanced herself from the climbing wall and let go. Since she was tied up by her harness, she only went down slowly before arriving on the ground.

"See? You're fine. You're on the ground. You're all right. Let's go. Shake it off. You're fine." As Erica got away from the wall, laughs fused through the group of students and Astrid rolled her eyes, not participating in this petty behavior, as Erica was now leaving for the changing rooms.

Astrid had already changed and was about to leave the locker room, her sports bag in her hand. She was casually walking down the corridor leading to the exit when, passing in front of the gym's door, she heard a noise that tickled her vampire sense. No one was supposed to be inside at this hour so, without thinking, she started walking inside, just in time to see Erica falling from the climbing wall. "Erica!", in an instant, thanks to her vampire speed, she was under her, catching her in her fall.
