Chapter 29 - Paying for the results

Aspen's POV

She bit her lower lip, looking away while thinking.

After a few torturing seconds, she said. "Fine."

I hugged her, smiling. I really thought she would push me away again after that bitch's visit. But fortunately, she didn't.

The door opened, and the doctor walked in.

"Ok, if you are ready, let's check the baby." She said, giving us a warm smile. Serena and I nodded at the same time, smiling.

The doctor started checking our baby. I was holding Serena's hand while looking at the screen, excited.

A few seconds later, the room filled with our baby's heartbeats. I smiled happily and looked into Serena's eyes. She gave me a dazzling smile.

"Ok...everything is normal." The doctor informed as she finished checking up.

I brought Serena's hand to my lips and placed a soft kiss on her hand, giving her a bright smile. She gave me a warm smile.

Then our families walked in. Taking advantage of it, I walked out. I closed the door behind me and pulled my phone out of my pocket. I found my photo with Carolina and sent it to her husband from an anonymous email. I warned her, but she didn't listen to me.

Now deal it with your lovely husband.

Then I sent a message to Carolina.

'I told you to stay away from Serena and my baby or your husband would find out about our affair, but you didn't take my warnings seriously. Now see the results.

P.S. If you don't stay away from Serena and my baby again, I will send this photo to the press. I will do everything to destroy your reputation. Don't push my buttons.'

After sending it, I turned off my phone. I knew as soon as she would receive my message, she was going to call me. She would be mad. I smirked arrogantly as I put my phone into my pocket and walked into the room.

I was in the company. I was checking our mall project.

Suddenly, my office phone rang.

"Yes?" I picked up the phone.

"Sir, you have a visitor. Mr. Barnes wants to see you." My secretary informed.

Yes, I was waiting for it. Actually, I was waiting for him right after he had received the photo, but he was late. I didn't see Carolina either. As much as I knew her, she would have bragged in my office demanding explanations and treating me. When I turned on my phone, there were a lot of missing calls and threatening messages from her. But I didn't call her back or send messages, and I changed my phone number.

"Let him in." I said and hung up.

I closed the file in front of me and stood up, sighing. I walked away from my desk and placed my hands into my pockets, waiting for John.

The door opened and John Barnes walked in. His expression was hard. His muscles tensed. He gave me a glowering look and approached me as he closed the door behind him.

"I think you know why I am here." He said bitterly and placed his hand into his pocket.

"Yeah, I guess." I replied firmly.

"How long did this shit continue?" He asked mockingly, giving me an insolent look. "I know you broke up. Otherwise, you would not send me that photo." He added, giving me a knowing look.

I smirked. "Yeah, I have sent." I admitted. "Two years." I replied.

"Hmm. And why have you sent me that photo? What did that slut do to you too?" He asked sarcastically, trying to hide his anger.

"I warned her to stay away from Serena and my baby, but she didn't take my warnings seriously. And this was her turn to pay for the results of our mistake." I said, giving him an apologetic look. "I have already paid for my mistake. I was almost going to lose the love of my love and my unborn child. That bitch tried to kill my baby twice. Firstly, she has sent a message to Serena from my phone pretending me and told her to get an abortion. Then when she knew Serena hasn't got an abortion, she pushed her down the stairs." I informed. I clenched my fist angrily, flushing by rage.

"What?!" He snapped, shocked. "I can not believe my ears." He said, stunned and ran his hand through his hair.

"I apologize. I regret what I have done." I said honestly. "And see that photo like my apology." I added.

He gave me a mocking smirk. "It wasn't an apology, Aspen. It was revenge that you wanted to get from her, because she has tried to kill your unborn child." He said bitterly. "When you sent it, you didn't care for me and my son, David." He said, giving me a wry look. I bit my lower lip, averting my eyes. He breathed deeply and continued. "I had a suspicion about it, but I didn't have any proof. But I have proof now. So I can get rid of that slut easily without giving her a penny. For that, I need to thank you. But I will not. Think I got even with you." He said bitterly. I pursed my lips together, embarrassed.

He turned around and walked towards the door. When he was about to open the door, he stopped and turned around. He rushed towards me and slammed his fist against my face, catching me off guard. I lost my balance and fell down.

"It is my appreciation." He said mockingly and stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

I rolled my eyes and wiped the blood off my lips as I got up. I adjusted my jacket and took some tissue. I wiped the blood off my lips and sat down on the seat. I leaned my head back.

As I finished my job, I closed the file in front of me. I put my phone into my pocket and stood up. When I wanted to leave my office, Carolina walked in. She looked furious.

"Sorry, sir. I warned her,but..." My secretary rushed after her and said, giving me an apologetic look.

"You can leave." I said to my secretary. She nodded and left.

"You bastard! I am going to kill you. How did you dare to send that photo to John?!" She barked.
