"Miss Chelsea, If you would, please demonstrate us how you properly create a barrier."
The teacher in front of me spoke, pulling me out from my train of thoughts going who knows where.
I sighed, propping myself up from my chair and walked towards her side. I looked up as pairs of eyes landed on me anticipating my next move.
Silently thanking the gods and goddesses that the teacher only wanted me to demonstrate how to create a barrier and nothing else.
I rebalanced myself to make it easier as I put my arms up in the air, just below my chest, opening my palms.
Ever so slowly, I felt power course through my veins as visible lights made itself known inside my arm. A light green color decorating my pale skin.
I felt the air around me thicken as a slow wind formed itself around me, making some strands of my hair float.
Slowly I closed my opened palms when I was sure that the the power was enough to create a barrier. The last thing I want is to embarrass myself in front of my fellow students. I stretched my closed fist away from each other, the motion quick and fast as if I'm extending a stick.
And as I did so, a light green circular wall appeared in front of me, small but detailed designs decorating it. The wall is big enought to fit atleast 10 people or so. Slightly towering over me, my eyes reflecting the color of the barrier as I saw my classmates awe struck faces through it. It's bright light enveloping us all as a strong waves of wind made all our hair move and sway with it.
I stared blankly at my barrier. It stood there firm and strong. Despite the fact that its creator is a pitiful fool who couldn't even save her own self from the pain of her own foolishness.
It's been a month since the confession. And not a day after, rumors spread all across The Academy where they deemed them couple of the year. I scoff myself at that thought. Couple of the year. I remembered a bitter amile crossed my lips after I heard it, words of praises were scattered around how they are such a perfect couple. My sister thanking everyone for their words as she leaned to Markus, saying how she had always liked him and that she was so happy, he felt the same. I recall rolling my eyes as I stood on the back of the crowd, my sister giving her actress thingy answer to his imaginary paparazzis who in fact were just a bunch of students bored with their life who would jump at any kind of gossips they could get their hands on. Call me bitter but its the fact. Or maybe I'm just bitter.
My teacher clapped her hands, pulling me yet again from my thoughts. Damn I gotta stop this blankouts.
"Thank you Miss Chelsea."
I nodded, closing my hands again and the barrier slowly disappeared. I dismissed myself by going back to my chair and sat down.
"Okay students, notice how Miss Chelsea's barrier, showed us its inricate designs? Its details very visible to our naked eye yet not hindering as from looking through it?" The teacher started glancing from one student to another. They all nod in unison as a response.
"Like a glass?" One student from the back spoke.
The teacher nodded, smiling. "Exactly! Like a glass, you see, it is very easy to determine a barriers strength. One look from it and you'd see."
The teacher then did what I did, only that, her barrier is a brown one. Its design blurry and its light twitching like a broken screen of a t.v.
"Sadly to say my barrier's not as strong as Miss Chelsea's. This here," Motioning to the wall she created, "Is the perfect example of the difference in strength. Remember when entering The Academy you must go through The Barrier and then by...?"
