(Picture is of Kyros with a beard, which he will have a bit later in the story. Monet will love it! Just like I do. lol)
Last night was stressful, except for Kyros being there. That part was amazing. Today is my day off but I've been called into work by the owner himself. To say I'm terrified is an understatement, I yelled at Ned because he was in the wrong but now my job is at stake. I think I might as well just say I quite and get it over with. However, I want a chance to explain my side of the story, Rosco is waiting in the truck for me. Don't worry, he has his own little fan and water.
"Monet, thank you for coming in, we can talk in the office." A man in a suit says with a smile on his face. He's an older gentleman yet handsome. When we get into the office, my nerves get the better of me. "Am I fired from what happened last night?" He looks up at me confused. "Fired? Oh no, is that what you thought. Monet you are the best employee the Pearl has had in a long time. Chris told me everything that happened last night, and I've let Ned go. I was hoping you would like to start training to be a manager here."
My jaw hits the floor. "Um, I mean I've thought about it but I'm not sure I'd be able to handle everything." "That's why we will train you. You'll get a raise while training and then four more dollars added when it's complete." That is almost sixteen dollars an hour. "Uh, yeah, I can. What will the times be?" "I was hoping you'd like to close but if anything we can rotate and only have you close on certain days of the week."
"Yeah, we can do that. I'm not a fan of driving in the dark." He nods. "Okay, now that this is settled, next week we will begin your training. Thank you, Monet." I nod, shaking his hand. "No, thank you."
"What was all that about?" Chris asks. "I am going to be a manager." "Well, I hope your better than Ned, yesterday was hell. I though you were going to cry." I shake my head, pushing Chris away. "Please, if anything I start throwing stuff. I'll see you tomorrow." He nods.
I walk out of Pearl with a smile on my face and a pep in my step. Rosco barks excitedly at me as I open the door. "Alright, let's go do some shopping." I have a gun in my glove box, but I need another for the house, and some clothes. I'm used to being on the run that I didn't keep a lot of clothes until I settled here and started working.
I hook Rosco to my belt loop as we walked into the mall. I figured we could find some clothes, a gun, and some groceries from the store next door. "What do you think Rosco?" I say, putting the bright pink shirt up to my chest. He sneezes, making me laugh. "I'll take that as a no. Pink isn't my color." I find some nice pants and a couple comfy shirts before walking over to the dressier clothes.
The last time I was able to get all dressed up was at formal a couple months before I had to run. I remember it clearly, mostly because I have the photo book mom keep all her pictures in. I wore a dark purple, knee length dress with black flats because I couldn't walk in heels just yet.
I see a cute flowery dress and lay it over my arm. I find cute red high waisted skinny jeans, it's a must. Now I'm just having trouble finding a shirt to match it. "Monet?" I hear a familiar voice ask. I turn and see Ashely heading my way. "Hey." I greet her as she gives me a hug. Rosco just sits on the floor watching the interaction. I guess he knows Ashley is harmless to me. "I was hoping I'd see you soon, but I know you've been busy." I nod. I was texting her last night about the hole shift going to shit.
"What are you doing here?" "I don't have a lot of clothes and I have a possible 'interest' and I want to be ready if he asks me out." Ashley's smile widens. "Ooh, tell me everything." I tell her what happened last night and then who the 'interest' was. "Oh, girl you go after that money." I shake my head. "I don't want money, I didn't even think I wanted a man, but I feel different around him. Protected I guess."
