I open the door at my house and scream. "Fire!"
Nobody reacts and I sigh. In the movie, when you scream fire, people will started to panic and some of them even run for their life. It seems like a fun thing to do so I tried many times.
First time I screamed fire into my house, I got no reaction because nobody was home. It still make me feel like an idiot screaming into an empty house everytime I think about it. The second time, I just got back from summer camp and thought it must be fun to give my family a little bit of surprise, but I ended up being scolded by my mother who is currently feeding my crying baby sister, Leslie.
People always said, third time is a charm but well... like I told you before, there is no reaction. I can hear my mother was cooking at the kitchen and walk to her.
"Hey, Ella."
"Don't you hear I screamed fire?" I hop onto the chair.
"I do hear you." she answers while scrolling through her phone. Looking for another disastrous recipe again, maybe.
"Then why don't you react. You are supposed to scream and run for your life."
My mother give me a withering looks. "This is the third time, Ella. Hardly a surprise anymore. Plus, if there's fire, I'm going to make sure all my baby children are safe before I run for my life." She wink dramatically and I giggle. My mother can't wink. Everyone knows that but she always pretend like she can. When she winks she looks like she pours lime juice inside her mouth and I can't help but laugh when I see it.
"What's for dinner, anyway?" I ask.
"This recipe called green curry chicken. It's going to be fantastic I tell you." she answers excitedly.
"You also said that last time."
"Oh, shut up! Where is Evan?" She wipes her hands and sit on the chair across me.
I shrug. "Out with Jace."
"Why don't you go with him?"
I return my mother's withering look. "Why should I follow him?"
"I don't know." she sighs. "You used to follow your brother everywhere he goes."
Still with the withering look, I say, "I'm eighteen and Evan is eighteen. He has his life and and I have my life."
Getting exasperated with my facial expression she pinches my cheek and says through gritted teeth. "What life, huh? All you do all day is cage yourself inside your room and stalk Jace with your computer."
"I am so did not stalk Jace!"
"You did too." she winks again, mess my hair and walks to the cabinet.
"I never stalk Jace."
"Whatev."
"Urgh, off to my room." I stand. "And stop watching G.B.F. It's not suitable for your age."
"Whatevs!"

I walk into the cafeteria with Elliot and Kate at my side. I go straight to the counter while my friends select the empty table for us to eat. That's our routine everyday. If there is no more table, we will eat outside, in the parking lot or somewhere.
I know, usually in the movies or books, every cliques have their own personal table in the cafeteria. It is not like our school don't have clique, we do. It's just we are not that mean to go to the people who occupied our favorite spot and say, 'Hey, junior. Get off our table or else..'
We usually just find another table to eat.
Taking my food, I walk to the table that Kate and Elliot had chosen and sit down.
