SEBASTIAN WAS MORE UPSET THAN HER FATHER WAS. Of course, that wasn't to say her father wasn't furious, but as she made her way home, the man was given some time to think, mulling over the best course of action to explain to his daughter the importance of responsibility and accountability, as she couldn't just run off whenever she wanted into the city, even if it wasn't truly the city, not even over the bridge, only a mere handful of blocks away.
Nevertheless, she was yelled at.
"What were you thinking, young lady, you almost scared us to death!" Sebastian cried, his hands permanently stuck to his hips, "Your father nearly sent the entire island after you and you ruined the performance that your sisters, and I especially, have been working on for months!"
Ariel bit her tongue so severely she was sure it was going to fall right off, not wanting to talk back and run the risk of getting into more trouble, but it was incredibly hard, what with people just shouting at her, and she just wanted to be allowed to leave her father's study and go to her room. Or, at the very least, let Flounder know it was okay for him to head back to his own house.
"Sebastian..." Triton warned, though he did choose to take a backseat while his advisor, for lack of a better word, reprimanded his daughter, always more eloquent than Triton himself was, though he wished he didn't have to resort to letting others discipline his children.
Finally, she sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "What are we going to do with you, young lady, I can't even begin to count all the times something like this has happened."
"I'm sorry, Daddy, I just forgot!" Ariel cried, finally unable to keep her mouth shut now that her father was the one reprimanding her.
"And this time around, your careless behavior—" Triton continued, not allowing his daughter to gain the upper hand.
"Careless and reckless behavior!" Sebastian interjected, nodding earnestly alongside Triton.
"The entire celebration was, er—" he faltered, searching for the right word, but Sebastian was there to pick up where he left off.
"Well, it was ruined!" the man cried, "Completely destroyed! The party was in complete chaos with everyone wondering where you were, not to mention, most importantly, my career is in utter shambles! I am the laughing stock of the community!"
"But it wasn't her fault!" Flounder cried, and, darting forward from where he was hanging back by the doorway to stand at Ariel's side.
Ariel turned to look down at him, desperately trying to catch his eye and shake his head. While she loved Flounder dearly, he was still young and overzealous, and his loyalty to her often wound them up in more trouble, unfortunately, and while she could never find it in herself to be upset with him, she didn't want them in more trouble than they already were in.
But, unfortunately for her, she wasn't able to stop him.
"There was this shark—yeah, yeah! And we tried to—but then it almost—and he was all, "Stop!"—and-and so we started running and—woah! But then we were safe, but then we went to the dusty store and-and—"
