Y/N POV

As Ozpin explained Initiation, I zoned out. I began thinking about mom, and the doctor, then my thoughts drifted towards the disease, and its connection to my semblance. Suddenly, I was flung into the air. No warnings, no nonsense, I guess.

Upon realizing that I needed my own landing strategy, I forced my semblance into overdrive, creating a pair of decayed wings on my back. I shuddered with revulsion as the bones slipped back through my skin upon landing.

Naturally, my breakfast decided to reappear.

"Having my semblance kill me slowly AND make me vomit half the time I use it isn't great..." I groaned, my mouth tasting like bile.

I stood from my spot, chose a random direction, and began walking. I ran into a couple pairs of students already, but seeing as they were pairs, I ignored them.

Until someone landed on me.

"God damn stupid piece of- oh, hi there!" A girl exclaimed. "C-can you get off me?" I wheezed.

The second the girl clambered off of me, I began coughing violently. "H-hey, are you alright dude?!?!?" She asked, concern in her voice. I tried to nod, but ended up coughing up blood.

"You aren't OK, are you?" She accused. "I'm fine." I spluttered, attempting to stand. When I finally managed it, my vision went spotty, and then I blacked out.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"C'mon, don't die on me!!!" Someone shouted. They sounded...far away. I felt...so warm. And someone else was calling for me.
My father.
"I need you to stay right there, Y/N!!! Don't come any closer!!!" He coughed. As I watched, the man collapsed. Unable to move to help, I watched him die.
Again.
And again.
And AGAIN.
"You should have done something, Y/N. You could have SAVED him." A voice screams at me. "There wasn't anything I could do!!!" I shout back. The voice chuckles darkly, and a dark mist gathers before me.
And just as suddenly, it clears.
And in its place, stands a woman.
The woman is roughly about 6 feet tall, with her hair in an odd bun. Her skin is pale to the point of being white, and she has black cracks on her arms, face, and probably other places that are covered by the dress she wears. She carries herself with a sense of purpose, and it's clear to me that she's someone important.
"Child, you will be my engine of destruction." She says. I stumble backward, my heart speeding up. 'Strange,' I think to myself. 'My heart hasn't beat in a long time.' The woman points at me, a fire in her eyes, and I feel my skin changing, cracking.
I felt myself becoming like her.
As I begin to scream, I wake up, nearly nailing a nurse in the head.
"He's alive!!!" The nurse cries, running off to get the doctor.
As I laid there, the girl I'd met in the forest and the girl who'd kissed me in the courtyard raced around the corner.
"Dude, you're alive!!!" They cried. I flinched. "I have no idea who either of you are...." I whispered, my voice raspy.
The girl who'd kissed me spoke up. "I'm Samantha. This is Audrey. We are your teammates. You're Y/N, yes?" She said. I nodded as Audrey came back with an empty glass, and I watched as the girl filled the glass with water.
Audrey was slim, with red hair and tanned skin. Her eyes were a dull green color, shot through with threads of blue. Two knives hung at her sides, and thin tendrils of something that looked like steam drifted off of them.
Samantha was also relatively slim, with dark brown hair and bright red eyes, which gave her a slightly off-putting look, like she was trying to decide whether she should rip you open or just burn you alive. Her skin was rather pale, and a heavy short sword hung at her hip, and a bow was slung across her back.
"Who's our fourth?" I asked, taking a sip of water. "You." A third girl said from behind me, causing me to choke on my water and throw the glass at Audrey, who cut it in half.
After finishing my coughing fit, the newcomer stepped into my field of vision.
She was of reasonable height, with silver hair and striking blue eyes, which made her look like she was trying really hard to glare at you, but couldn't quite manage to do so. Her skin was also pale, and a rifle was slung across her back.
"And you are?" I asked. "Emily." She replied. Suddenly, a cat raced into the room and jumped onto my stomach, mewling loudly.
"Omelette!!!" I exclaimed, the Munchkin cat nearly falling off me. Emily and Samantha giggled, while Audrey began attempting to scale the walls with her knives in an attempt to get away from my cat.
(My cat came in as I wrote this part)
The three of us simply stared at the redhead as she tried (and failed) to escape the stubby-legged ball of fluff and obvious danger as he scrambled over to her, purring his fluffy little heart out.
Audrey began screeching as the ball of obviously instant death by snuggles and fluff rubbed against her leg, and Emily, Samantha, and I all began laughing at the absurd display.
"Y-you're supposed to fight Grimm, yet you're afraid of a stumpy little cat named 'Omelette'?!?" Emily said, through her giggles.
"He is the stuff of nightmares! I mean, look at him!!!" Audrey wailed. I nodded. "Indeed. My worst nightmare incarnate just happens to be a 4 or 5 inch tall cat named 'Omelette'. Oh, the absolute terror I feel right now." I said, trying to keep a straight face, the other two girls rolling on the floor, giggling.
"Omelette! Come here, buddy!" I called, causing The cat to cease his 'assault' on Audrey and sit on me.
"Learning all kinds of things about each other today, aren't we?" I snickered, holding up my cat as Emily and Samantha made a big show of being 'absolutely terrified' of the ball of fluff and affection and happiness I held in my hands.
Audrey stuck her tongue out at us and left the room, and the rest of us laughed harder.
'I'll be attached enough that they are my friends. I'll break it all off before my time is up.' I told myself.
'I just hope it won't be my worst mistake.'
