AFTER THE SOMEWHAT AWKWARD ENCOUNTER with jughead, olive continued to make her way out of the school building. however, as she got closer to the exit, she began to feel guilty for abandoning betty. and, although she hated to admit it, veronica too.
but olive knew that if she had stayed in that gymnasium any longer, cheryl blossom would have found a way to drag her into whatever she was starting with betty and veronica. so the guilt washed over and olive walked out of riverdale high more relieved as ever.
however, olive didn't make it very far, a familiar voice calling out her name made her stop in her tracks. the brunette turned around and saw felix fitzgerald, one of her brother's friends. he was a freshman and olive knew him well enough.
❝felix, hi, what are you still doing here?❞
the blonde smiled at olive and lightly jogged to catch up with her. as nice as he was, olive couldn't help but feel kind of weird and awkward. she had never really talked to felix when her brother wasn't around.
❝basketball tryouts, you?❞
olive briefly explained that she went to watch cheer tryouts, felix nodding and sending her a smile. the two began walking side by side in silence, towards the street they both lived on. that's right, the fitzgeralds had been neighbours with the mantles longer than olive had been in riverdale.
❝so, are you going to the semi formal with anyone?❞
of course olive was planning on going, with kevin obviously. she didn't have a date, but there was no way that that would stop her from having a fun time with her friends. but olive was curious as to why he was asking. oh forget that, she already knew that he was trying to ask her out and olive felt weird.
❝well i'll be there, but no i have no date. i was thinking of just going with my friends.❞
felix gave her a smile again, and it was begining to make olive even more awkward than she already felt. she expected for him to stop there, but man this kid had balls.
❝well, can i be your date then?❞
olive had to pretend to be shocked, as she had already seen this coming. but now her problem wasn't faking a reaction, it was what the hell was she going to say? nothing. the brunette had no clue what to say next, and felix noticed.
❝i'm sorry if i weirded you out, and we can go as friends if you'd like. it's just i don't have a date yet, and i made a bet with a friend. that i'd take a sophomore to the dance.❞
all of a sudden olive felt bad, she knew she shouldn't, but felix was just a freshman who was trying to prove himself to his stupid jock friends. so she did what she never thought she would do, she said yes.
