The sky is a beautiful shade of pink with a splurge of blood orange when we all step out of the train.

Exhaustion is present on every one of my school mate's faces, the journey being about two hours as we drag our belongings towards the school building.

In front of the old three story building with ocean blue walls and dark windows with white lining their ledges, and an oak door as large as I imagined Andre the Giant would have been are brand new bench seats that appear to be polished and waxed.

They have some weird wave like designs engraved on their arm rests and top, a hint of gold as their fillings.

It must be some sort of "welcome back" present since we have a new principal this term.

The school started this tradition a few years back, having a new principal take over the school whenever they feel like it or the principal himself or herself decides to say farewell.

Why? I have no clue but I'm guessing that it has something to do with the fact that our school is a pretty big deal, and our actions as children are being monitored to determine whether or not we deserve that title.

Or, it could be that the school management is really bored and has nothing better to do than send creepy, mean old people to watch over us every few months.

If that really is what this is all about, then it's a complete waste of time and effort. I mean yeah the school is great and all and it is what they are paid to do, but there are a great deal of people who can handle themselves. As for the others who think it's cool to fail classes, i think there's only so much you can do as a person.

Matthias marches up to me and puts his arm around my shoulder.

"I was hoping I wouldn't have to see this place so soon. I'm already tired mentally from the thought of going in and classes haven't even started yet." He sighs as we step into the building, tossing our bags into the store room we'll have to come back to later so we can sort our stuff out.

I look up at him and shake my head," Come on Matty, it's not that bad." I try to get him out of that headspace," At least we won't have to deal with Muriel's nagging and her rules."

She was the school principal for 3 months; the basic time period for most people who have that position in this place, and God was she evil.

I'm pretty sure she despised children and how she got the job to take care of a bunch of kids, we'll never know.

" Well I guess that's one thing I can look forward to, that and the new girls that'll show up, hopefully early, this term." He smirks lazily. Ugh, idiot.

"Let's hope the new principal's better and doesn't possess a completely open dislike towards us." I say, Matty chuckling in response.

We find our way to the dining hall as we continue to converse, finding our friends seated at the round dining table, already chowing down on some pasta they were served by the cooks, Mrs. Thatcher and Mrs. Smith.

Both of them have been with the school for 10 years, and in those many years of service, they have never, and i mean never, made a bad meal.

Their baked treats, sweets, the biscuits most especially, and seasoned foods are to die for. No restaurant could ever live up to the wonderful creation that is Mrs. Thatcher and Mrs. Smith's breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

"Hey guys." Matthias smiles widely as he grabs a seat, I follow suit.

"Hello Matty." The girls at the table whisper seductively as they twirl their hair around their fingers, some biting their lips so hard, it almost seems like they're trying to break the skin.

"Sup bro?" The buff pack of boys holler as two plates of spaghetti are set onto the table in front of us. Ahh, this must be heaven on a plate.

As more people exchange greetings and pleasantries, I turn my head towards the hall doors as they are opened, golden tanned hands pressed against them.

A boy who looks about six feet tall steps into the room, having the attention of every single person in here on him, even Mrs. Thatcher and Mrs. Smith, and those two have husbands.

Short brown hair, swept back so his brown puppy like eyes are seen, soft looking red lips and a sharp jawline, his presence sending butterflies through every female, and a few males in the room.

My eyes continue to trail down, taking in his strong looking arms, his gorgeous torso which seems to be complimented nicely by the uniform shirt as well.

This is the second time this is happening today and it hasn't even been twenty four hours.

Oof.

A teacher stands by his side, instructing him to take a seat and have dinner so he can be shown around completely when he's finished.

The atmosphere begins to feel stuffy and humid around me as I see him approach our table.

All heads follow his movements, mesmerized, confused, curious as to why all these new students are suddenly showing up out of the blue, and why they're all so freaking hot.

Before I'm able to think further on the reason why he's heading over to our table, a chair by my right side is drawn back, immediately being claimed by the behind of the gorgeous human who graced the dining hall with his presence.

"Hello love." He smiles at me gently, his pretty brown eyes studying the side of my face.

I nearly have a panic attack from his gaze, wondering why he was speaking to me of all people, wondering why he was speaking to me at all.

There are so many girls seated at this table, most of them as pretty as Disney princesses, so why?

"Hello random stranger who just sat here and decided to ignore every other person seated at this table." Matthias speaks up before I'm able to get any words out, sensing that I was uncomfortable from the sudden ambush of the Greek god seated next to me.

The boy lifts his eyes off of me to look at my best friend with an amused expression.

"Oh! I'm sorry. Is she your girlfriend?", he asks as a devilish tint appears in his eyes with one of the hottest smirks I've ever seen on a person, like he's found a target, trying to see how far he can go before he strikes a nerve in Matty.

"No mate. She is my sister though." Matty lies as he grits his teeth. The sister line always seems to work when he wants to get rid of boys he doesn't like seeing around me.

The boy's smile falters but is replaced with the same beautiful smirk faster than the speed of light. "Okay then. Sorry for the disturbance." He winks at me before he faces the food in front of him, devouring it like he hadn't eaten for days.

Wow.

"Thanks Matt, I honestly had no idea how to react back there." I say to a slightly ticked off Matthias, a big vein throbbing across the side of his neck.

"No problem. Just let me know if he does anything to bother you again" he lets out a breath, his posture becoming relaxed.

"Don't worry Matty, I can handle myself you know." I nudge him playfully, "Sure." He draws out with an eyeroll.

I smack his shoulder lightly and grin.

School is definitely in session.
