It's been a long and tiring day.
We all finished up with dinner about an hour ago, then we were taken up to our seperate dorms, one on the right wing of the building for the girls, and one on the left side of the building for the boys.
I bid Matthias and Todoroki adieu as we part ways, knowing that we'll be seeing each other in class in a few hours.
All the girls in the dorm room are fast asleep except for me. I've always found it so difficult to fall asleep when I wanted to, but as soon as I'm in a place where I'm supposed to be as attentive as possible, the feeling of tiredness takes over me.
I can't do this anymore.
The blankets and duvets are swung off my legs, the sweet feeling of relief from their weight leaving me light.
As soon as my feet make contact with the ground, the girl who is beneath my top half of the bunk bed stirs a little, muttering some words in her sleep before turning over and backing me completely.
Once I make it out the door quietly without waking up the others, I tip toe across the hall, heading up to the top of the building which is the third floor that's no longer in use, except for some teacher's rooms that are up here, pulling the door to the roof that is restricted, open.
This is the only place in the whole school, besides the cafeteria, that I can call my safe haven. My home away from home.
The only place where I can be alone without thinking so much. Up here, I can be me. I can also be any version of myself as long as I want to.
Matthias and TK don't even know I come here.
Most people don't come up here because it's off limits and a bit creepy, but I like it that way. It feels like it's mine. A blank canvas to paint on.
So you can imagine how surprised I am when I see a dark figure leaning over the edge of the roof, the person's head facing the direction of the stars scattered across the pitch black night sky.
I step back wearily, trying to figure out how to handle the situation of an intruder on restricted school grounds.
Hypocrite.
"Um..Excuse me!" I whisper yell, grabbing the faulty door knob with shaky hands in case I have to slam it behind me as I run for dear life.
The figure jumps a bit, startled by my presence. "Woah! I didn't expect anyone else to be up here. It looked pretty dead so.." a deep voice sputters out as he scratches the back of his neck.
I can't see the boy's face clearly but I can tell from his voice that he's someone I should know or at least be familiar with.
Maybe he's up here because he's a bit anxious like i am. Heck, that's why I'm here whenever school is in session.
"It's okay" I try to convince him that I have no problem with him being here, " I'm usually alone anyway but you can use this place too if you like." I smile at him gently. Why did i just say that like I own the damn building?
He moves his head up and down, looking up once again.
I walk over to him but give him a little bit of distance, not wanting to disturb his time too.
I'm finally able to get a good look at his face, now recognising him. Dark hair, eyes as brown as oak wood, slightly thin red lips and a straight face always present.
Henry Beckman, a senior in class A.
I've always seen him from a distance but we've never spoken, he's quite the quiet brooding type and his mind always seems to be so far away from this world.
