I woke up this morning feeling particularly ecstatic and there's probably no surprise there. After the night I got to spend with Henry just soaking up all that was around me, it's no wonder I'm on cloud 9, and I'm also probably excited from the thought of being able to see him again and possibly being able to talk like friends. An actual friend that I made all on my own.
Friends
Is that what he is now? A friend?
Well i hope that's the case because i really enjoyed hanging out with him, even though we didn't converse much.
I'm still in my head thinking about everything that's happened in the last few hours when Todoroki walks up to me with a smile on his face, absolutely beaming. I'm pretty sure the sun thinks TK's smile is brighter than its own rays.
He has on the school sweater today which looks exactly like the one worn in Harry Potter, the only difference being the colour which is navy blue with a white stripe across the torso, and the second set of pants worn by the boys which looks grey from afar but changes to a shade of beige once it's observed properly.
"Hey" I smile back almost immediately. It's just so contagious.
"Hi Adriana! Hope you slept good. Are you heading over to Mr. Pickles class?"
Ah, dear old Mr. Pickles. Have you ever had one of those teachers who you have to fake a laugh for in order to pass their class? Well, our veggie named friend is the embodiment of that scenario. He's still very much an amazing English teacher, he's just not the funniest one. I can count the number of dad and uncle jokes he delivers a day, and recite them to you from my memory because of the number of times that I've heard them. He doesn't even come up with original ones, the poor thing.
"Yeah I am. By the way, have you seen Matthias anywhere?"
"Last time I saw him was at three a.m. He was sneaking around with Avery Deloitte and failing to be discreet in the process. It's like he wanted to be caught with the school's most popular student, like she's some sort of trophy that everyone's trying to get their hands on." By the time TK is done talking, a vein is present at the side of his neck and his face is basically tomato red.
If you couldn't already tell, Todoroki has had a huge crush on Avery since he first got here. Why? I have no idea. The girl has the personality of a freaking stapler, and she feels the need to stress her title as the daughter of one of the very first principal's this school had. He wasn't a favorite either.
It's kind of sad to see someone so lovely falling for the devil's literal spawn, minus the horns which is the only thing she doesn't have but everything else about her is pretty close to his.
You can see his eyes starting to morph into literal heart eyes as we spot the she-devil herself and Matthias, the idiot, together heading towards us. Did I already mention that Matthias is an idiot?
"Hello Ri" Matthias greets us with a lopsided grin on his face, clearly getting high off of the several pairs of eyes that he's had on him since he started hanging out with Avery, all the while having Todoroki burn holes into the side of his head with a glare that I've never seen on him before.
How does he manage to still look so adorable with a deadly look on his face? TK is far from intimidating and I would honestly love to see how this plays out.
"Where did you run off to last night?" TK wastes no time in attacking him with questions.
Matthias still keeps a cool demeanour and responds, "I just hung out with Avery who I'm sure you two already know." He moves her forward a little with his palm on her lower back. She simply looks up and waves uninterestedly.
"Yeah, nice talking to you but Todoroki and I have a class to get to. See you later." I say in a passive manner and Matt notices this and chooses not to call me out on it.
I grab Todoroki by his collar and run as fast as I can, glad I have a reason to not be in the same space as them and realising that we both have only two minutes to get to English before it starts.
I basically barge into the classroom with a minute to spare and of course everyone's eyes are on me. Todoroki quietly walks in behind me and goes to his seat.
Mr. Pickles clears his throat as he side eyes me. My cheeks turn red from embarrassment and I finally move to the only seat available.
Well, isn't that a wonderful start to the term?
"Isn't that a wonderful start to the term?" Shaun Letterman, the school's top student in all the activities that involve school except for sports, says with a smirk on his face, as if he read my mind.
You bet.
_____
The bell for the next class continues to echo across the hall even though most of us have stepped out.
Luckily for me, I have a free period. Todoroki went off to Chemistry as soon as we got out of Mr. Pickles class so fast, it was a bit peculiar to me that I was able to catch a glimpse. Avery takes that class also so you can add brains to the long list of things she possesses, Todoroki's feelings included.
Right now, I'm on my own as I sit and observe all that nature has to offer while I take a deep breath in and watch the calming colour of blue across the sky, a few clouds passing through and colliding with another to create a swirl of white.
The grass has been cut recently and still leaves a smell of moistness in the air. Nothing smells fresher than tamed, wet grass on a sunny day, well as sunny as it can get over here.
I lay down completely and grab my copy of Fangirl, placing it over my eyes and the bridge of my nose gently.
I forget about where I am as I feel my eyelids getting heavier by the second, that is until I hear the sound of footsteps approaching me and become alert instantly.
A hand comes in contact with my book before I have a chance to react and is snatched from my face. I'm blinded by the sun temporarily so I'm stuck seeing a few spots for the next second, and when my vision is restored, I'm met with a beautifully crafted piece of human towering over me as he dangles my book between his thumb and pointer finger with a mischievous smile on his face.
Oh crap.
Cafeteria greek god.
