I look up at a bright hot pink surfboard that fades into a light pink then a white. Then at a blue one next to it that does the same except it goes from blue to white insted of pink.
"I like this pink one. And that would be cool if you got the blue one." Pearl suggests. I shrug. Does it really matter what the boards look like? "Why do you even want to do this? Do you even care about gymnastics anymore?" As soon as the words left my mouth I knew I had said the wrong thing.
Pearl looks at me in a disgusted way. "I can have more then one hobby you know. Well, if you don't wanna go surfboarding then I can always just ask Mandy to come. She's actually nice." And with that she storms off and slams the door which makes a bell sound and causes a employee to look up from his work, leaving me speechless and hurt.
I sigh and look up at the pink and blue surfboards. Mabye one day. I walk out of the surf shop and make sure to close the door extra carefully as I exit the store. In my hurry to get home I spot a slightly familiar face across the street. I wave and she waves back but she doesn't come towards me so I decide to make the first move.
I run across the small street, making sure to use the walk road thing that makes cars stop when you pass by. When I reach her I put on a big smile to show her that im not angry with her still for how she and Robin used to treat me.
She says shyly,"Hey, June. Look, im sorry about how we used to tease you. It wasn't right. And if Robin still lived here she would say the same thing." I shrug as if it's all in the past, which it is. "Your hairs not blond as more." I notice. Her face reddens as she confesses. "It never really was. After Robin moved I grew it back out it's natural color."
I put my hands on my hips and grin at her. "Well I think red suits you Harley." She nods her head in agrement. "Yeah. So where is your little minion?" Harley half jokes.
I roll my eyes which proably would have cost me a long lecture from mom. "She's not my minion were just best friends. Well...not at the moment. We kinda got in a fight." For the first time ever Harley actually looks sad for me.
"That sucks. Hey, you wanna come to this beach party tonight. Everyone's gonna be there. It's only for kids around our age though. So don't go off inviting your mom or anything." I think about how Pearl would feel about this. Plus the fact that I hate crossing that darn road... "Mabye. Can I have some time to think about it?"
Harley flips her short red hair, proably out of habit and shrugs. "I guess. Give me your number and you can text me if you change your mind." I take out my phone and hand it over to her. Half exspecting her not to give it back and to just run off with it and keep it for herself but she does.
"You've really changed." I say to her truthfully. She responds honestly with a slight frown plastered on her lips. "Yeah, well. You become who you hang out with."
