A/N: So, I really don't know where to look for a good pic for this story's cover...anyone want to help me out? Finn has brown hair, by the way.

Finn stared out the window, fiddling with the thin black tie that hung loosely around his neck. He could hear his teacher, affectionately known as Mr. K, in the background, but--as usual--he wasn't listening. Instead, his eyes traced the flight of a bird of prey as it circled in the sky.

Until, however, movement near the school gates drew his attention.

A sleek, black sportcar pulled up to the gates. A moment later, the driver got out and hurried around the car to open the back door on the opposite side. He was a tall, thin man with thinning grey hair and a pronounced stoop.

The boy who emerged from the darkness of the vehicle was exactly his opposite--young, with short black hair and perfect posture. Finn's eyes lit up at the sight of him even as his lips curled into a smirk. He wore a white button-down shirt and black slacks rather than the green jacket and khakis of the school uniform, marking him as a new student. Finn couldn't help but note that he looked like a person who was just begging to be toyed with.

The driver got back into the car and the boy started up the path toward the double doors of the huge building. Finn watched him, noting that his posture didn't change dispite the car driving away.

"Hey, Finn!" hissed a feminine voice from beside him, "What are you looking at?"

He turned to see Arianna, a girl with long, sleek black hair and smooth, light olive skin. She leaned over, trying to see around him with wide, dark eyes. Finn's eyes strayed, noticing that the girl's oversized chest came close to spilling from the white shirt of her uniform and the green jacket over it, neither of which was buttoned according to regulation. No wonder she had a reputation of being a slut.

He turned again, but the boy in the courtyard was gone. "Nothing," he told Arianna, sighing.

The Latino girl pouted, crossing her arms in a way that pushed her further out of restrictive cloth. "Whatever," she muttered.

Finn rolled his eyes. Having been her friend since the beginning of junior high, he knew when Arianna was acting more hurt than she really was.

"Garmine! Cortez! Pay attention!"

During the lunch break, Finn wandered the halls, looking for the boy he'd seen earlier. Considering he'd been watching from the second floor, he didn't know exactly what he was looking for. He'd come across one black-haired boy he didn't recognize, but the boy's slouch and the stink of cigarette smoke told him it wasn't his target.

"Finn!"

The indignant voice, accompanied by the echo of a school-issued shoe stomping on the tiled floor, suddenly filled the hall. Without turning, Finn knew it was Arianna. Instead of answering her, he poked his head around the corner, looking down the next hall for his mark.

"Geez, Finn," the girl sighed as she reached his side, "You've only been dating Kylie for a week. You're already avoiding her?"

Finn shrugged. "I saw something interesting this morning," he commented without emotion.

"Interesting as in a rich bitch?" Arianna asked curiously, acting as if she didn't fit the description herself.

"Nah, it was one of those uptight pretty boys," Finn replied. He couldn't help but smirk; the last few of said type that he'd encountered were now either emo or junkies.

Arianna frowned, suddenly uncomfortable. She'd had feelings for the last one Finn had broken, though he hadn't known until after the boy had landed himself in prison. Finn looked away. Before he could come up with something to say, the bell rang, saving him.

Without speaking to each other, he and Arianna split up and headed to class. He kept an eye out all the way to science, but he had no luck. When he opened the door to the classroom, however, he immediately spotted the boy in the third row.

In the seat right next to his.

Fighting back a smirk, Finn nearly swagged to his seat. The boy kept his eyes--which happened to be an unusually rich green--focused on a paper he held loosely in one hand. His posture was still impeccable, which was unusual even among the elite of this school.

"Sooo," he said, drawing out the vowel as he sprawled across his seat rather than sat in it, "'M Finn. Who're you?"

The dark-haired boy glared at him. "My name is Kaden Busch," he said, his tone polite, yet slightly irritated.

Finn offered him a lazy grin. "So you're my new partner?" he asked for confirmation.

The boy nodded shortly, turning away from him. Well, that wouldn't do.

"Good," he purred, leaning in and resting a hand on Kaden's thigh, "I hope we can extend that beyond this class?" He breathed heavily, knowing he breath ghosted over the pale shell of Kaden's ear.

The boy's face glowed brighter than a stoplight.
