I walk in the gym and see girls with white shirts and black shorts on. Today is the first day of the cheer tryout clinic.
"Okay everyone sign in. If your trying out for the freshmen team come over here, JV over there and varsity over there." One of the coaches says.
I go over to the JV sign in. The way it works is freshman have to tryout for the freshman team, sophomores have to try out for JV, juniors can tryout for either JV or varsity and seniors have to tryout for varsity. So since I'm a sophomore i have to tryout for JV.
"Once you have signed in go ahead and sit down and start to stretch." Another coach says.
I sign in the sit on the floor and start to stretch. Within a few minutes a girl sits next to me. She is tan and her silky brown hair is in a high ponytail. She's really pretty.
"Hi!" She says.
"Hi." I say back.
"Im Rhett." She says.
"Im Sadie." I say.
"Is this your first time trying out for the school cheer team?" She asks.
"Yeah. What about you?" I ask.
"No. I was on the cheer team in 7th and 8th grade and i was on the freshman team last year." She says.
"Oh wow." I say.
"Yeah. You know if you want after we start to learn the stuff maybe we can get together after and i can help you and we can critique each other and stuff." She says.
"Sure! That would be great. Im really gonna need the help." I say.
"Great!" She says with a smile.
"Okay everyone stand up, we're gonna start with the dance." The cheer instructor tells us.
We all stand up. We go through learning the dance. Thats basically what we work on the whole time.
After it ends I'm so tired. I gather my stuff.
"Hey Sadie do you need a ride home?" Rhett asks coming up to me.
"Actually i do." I say.
"Okay. No problem, i can take you home." She says.
I take my phone out of my bag to see if i have any messages.
I have one from Austin saying:
Hey come over after your clinic is done i want to hear about it.
I text back saying:
Okay. Im on my way.
I tell Rhett's mom the way to Austin's house and soon we are there.
"Thanks for the ride." I say.
"Oh no problem. So i was thinking the rest of the week after the clinics we could get together at my house and practice together." She says.
"Yeah, sounds good to me." I say.
"Okay. See you tomorrow." She says.
"Okay. Bye." I say getting out of the car.
I go up to Austin's door and walk in.
Mamma is in the kitchen cleaning up dinner. She looks up at me.
"Hey Sadie. How did the first clinic go?" She asks.
"It was tiring but good." I say.
"Good." She says.
"Is Austin in his room?" I ask.
"Yeah." She says.
"Okay. Thanks." I say.
