I looked through the cases, trying find something that I could conceal and keep with me at all times. There was a small dagger with a jade handle, it had a sheath that looked like it could be strapped on my ankle. I put it to the side, I kept shuffling through everything till I found a machete with a casing that looked like it was designed to be strapped around the torso, maybe I could wear it under my jacket? My search was interrupted by a knock at the front door, I strapped the dapper to my ankle and hid it under my pants leg before I went to check the door.
I looked through the peep hole, it was Chase.
"What are you doing here?"
"Another kid has gone missing."
"It can't be the same thing, you said that it would wait till dark to eat the girl."
Chase shifted uncomfortably before answering my silent question, "We found a body, it appears to be wearing similar articles of clothing as the girl.. They were torn to pieces."
I froze. I never thought that she would be dead... Maybe she was already dead? I couldn't breathe, I felt sick, like a pit of bile was bubbling up inside my stomach.
Chase shifted uncomfortably, unsure of what to do.
I squeezed my eyes shut and shook my head, "Do they have any idea how long she's been dead for?"
Chase shook her head, her blonde hair shimmered in the sunlight, "No, the coroner is going to have a tough time getting specifics. But judging by the smell, she would have been torn apart at least four hours ago. Not smelly enough for humans to notice but definitely enough for me."
I nodded my head, trying to keep any vision of a young girls body covered in blood and torn pieces of a red jacket thrown around the body.
"Who's missing now?" I asked, trying to prepare myself for the answer.
"A college kid, young man wearing his football jacket walking home from a catch up with his friends."
"Let me guess, his jacket was red."
Shaw nodded, "His been missing roughly two hours now. Normally we'd wait the twelve hours but since we found the little girl's body, they don't want to wait for another body to drop."
I felt my eyebrows scrunch together as I took in the information Chase gave me.
"What are you thinking?" Chase asked looking at me.
"You said that the Blutbad would wait to eat the girl at night, but it doesn't. Now it manages not only to leave scraps for the police to find but also abducts another victim during the day with the police everywhere. Why would it risk discovery like this?"
Chase shrugged her shoulders, "You're talking to the wrong Wesen, besides, aren't you suppose to be the expert?"
The chuckle burst from my throat before I could stop it, I shook my head, "Sorry, I'm far from an expert but I am working on it."
I puffed up my cheeks with air and blew it out, "Ok, look I'll see if I can dig up anything else, I'll give you my number and maybe you can keep me up to date?"
Chase took a moment to consider this before nodding her head, "Ok, fine. But listen, if anyone finds out that I am working with a Grimm, the next body you hear about will probably be mine, get it?"
I nodded, "I get it, but remember you asked for my help."
Chase rolled her eyes and shook her head, "Don't remind me."
We exchanged numbers, Chase turned to leave but I had a sudden thought, "Hey, any chance you could keep an ear out on the Wesen grapevine and keep me up to date on it? I promise I won't go around killing anyone, I'm no where near even considering that yet."
Chase took a noisy breath in, "Fine, I'll let you know if anything relevant pops up."
Chase left and I shut the door, I felt my knees give way and hit the floor before I had a chance to steady myself. My stomach was still bubbling and my eyes stung as thoughts of the little girl flooded my mind.
How the hell could my father had lived with any of this?
