"Nineties style/you find a style/ Right away it's the fit"
I'll Be, Foxy Brown
Faye's mind was blown! Watching her friends snatch up jeans, and pick out shoes like they would never get the chance again, was crazy. It took her a while to get with it, but after some prodding from her friends, she joined in the frenzy, where price tags had no value.
"Deja!", Faye gushed, "I can't believe we spent so much. That was crazy!"
The girls were taking a short intermission, going to refuel at the food court.
Deja shrugged, "It's only Macy's."
"Faye, I'm telling you." Karma bragged, struggling to hold onto to all her bags, "You need to check Rodeo out with us. Where a pair of shoes cost more than all the jeans I just bought."
Cherise nodded in agreement, she'd been with them a few times, and if Faye thought this was something, she had no idea. She wouldn't be able to grasp the off-hand manner in which they hit the Boutiques and Shoppe's on Rodeo Dr.
"Seriously?" Faye was amazed, she tried to imagine shopping on Rodeo Dr. as they stood in line at Hotdog on a Stick.
"Yup. We were out there not too long ago." Karma continued to brag. "Came up on the bomb shit, too. Huh, Deja?"
"Be coup fly shit"
"Where was I?"
Karma took a bite into her hotdog. "Probably at church."
Sipping her cherry lemonade, Faye thought this over. "Yeah, probably. Cherise did you go?"
"Not that time. I was at one of Marquise's games. But I still got hooked up proper."
Faye looked hurt as they settled at a table. "How come you guys didn't bring me anything?"
"You already know why, Faye." Deja stated, "you always knock it. Saying it's 'stolen merchandise', and that you want 'no parts of it', remember?"
Karma picked up where Deja left off, "and, even if you weren't at church, you wouldn't have wanted to go anyway. Because, let you tell it, it's not right."
Faye sighed. Her eyes fluttered to the floor, their feet surrounded by at least twenty bags. And they had only been in one store.
'Well", Faye said, looking up. A decision was made. "This is crazy fun. I want to go the next time you guys go to Rodeo. Can we go this weekend?"
Deja shook her head, "Not this time. We just went not that long ago."
"Yeah, Nate would fuck around and have a conniption if we hit that up on the regular." Karma, laughing at the thought, not realizing how true that was.
Faye frowned, she had been excited at that being a possibility.
Deja noticed the sad face on her friend, "Well, maybe we can go to The Grove in Hollywood. That's a good place to shop."
"Can we?" Cherise asked, "I need to stock up on my MAC."
Deja nodded, confirming that they would.
"Recie, what did they bring you from their trip on Rodeo?" Faye asked, she couldn't get her mind off of Rodeo Drive.
"This boss ass crocodile purse, with the bangin' heels to match."
