Third P.O.V.~
Sirens wailed in the distance as Itami laid there, fallen and cold.
"Itami, please. You have to get up. We were going to watch Naruto right? Please, please, for the love of God, please wake up." Shinku sobbed, clutching her dying friend's hand.
"...shh. Don't be sad. I can't even feel anything." Itami croaked, reaching a shaky hand up to pat her friend's cheek. The four of them were currently in the back of the ambulance, hurrying to the hospital. The three young adults were hopeful, clinging to the shred of hope that would save their friend's life. But Itami knew. She knew that she wouldn't make it. Though, not to stress out her friend even more, she kept it to herself.
"...Sh-Shinku, if I don't make it-" Itami started when Shizuka cut her off.
"You will make it." He insisted as Itami just sadly smiled.
"If I don't make it, I want you guys to go to my room. Take this. Unlock the third drawer down from my dresser in my closet." She silently ordered, slipping a bracelet off her wrist and into Shinku's hand.
"Wh-What is it?" She whispered, not trusting herself to normally speak without breaking down.
"You'll see." Itami smiled at them, tears at the corner of her eyes.
On September 11, 2015, Rikai Itami passed away from blood loss.
Tired and numb, the three friends opened the door of her mansion, slipping in and locking the door. They went up the oh so familiar but painful staircase leading to their younger sister's room. Walking to her door, the three passed Tensai's room, the door slightly opened. They all caught a glimpse of the figure of his body in the dark, dark room, shaking from under the blanket, no doubt crying and sobbing over his sister's death. The three had shed too many tears already and simply went to Itami's room. Pushing the door open, they were met with cleanliness and neatness, not a single thing out of place. The three went over to Itami's white and black walk-in closet, opening the doors.
"...what now?" Awai hoarsely asked as they looked at the dresser in the closet, seeing only two drawers.
"...think. Itami is very smart. Maybe she hid it?" Shizuka suggested but Shinku ignored them, rooting around the drawers.
"I think I found it." She mumbled and reached into the top part of the drawer. Feeling a hole, she took her hand out and stared at the bracelet Itami gave them.
"...this fits the hole but I can't put it in." Shinku noted and Awai nodded, taking it. His arms were long enough to put the charm in and take it out. Carefully, he reached into the drawer and felt around the backside. Feeling the hole, he adjusted the bracelet until it fit perfectly into the hole. Gears and wires could be heard whirring and clicking. Soon, a pop noise was heard and they all stared at each other.
"...on the back maybe?" Shizuka questioned and he got up, the two backing away. Slowly and carefully, he turned the dresser around. There, on the back, was a small, hidden compartment.
"...typical Itami." The three weakly laughed as they kneeled down on the floor again.
Hey guys, if you're reading this, then I probably died. I'm sorry to leave you guys and I hope you'll remember me forever. I've been building something of my own for you guys, and I want you to have it. That is, if you can guess the passcode. Good luck! ;)
At the end of the letter, Shizuka held up a metal box.
"...789." They shared a knowingly look. The thing is, Itami always loved the three's birthday months, having been July, 7, August, 8, and September, 9. It reminds her of her dad's dad jokes, cherishing it.
"Itami..." Shinku sadly mourned as the three had a moment of silence for their best friend.
"..shall we?" Awai gestured to the metal box and they nodded. Going in order, Awai flicked the first one to 7, his birthday, July 7th.
"My turn." Shinku murmured and twisted the middle ring to 8. August 8th, her birthdate.
"Save the best for last." Shizuka weakly laughed and turned it to September 9th, his birthday.
A click was heard and the box rotated open. Inside were two rings and one ear clip. The three gasped as they each took it out. The first ring perfectly fit Awai's index finger, he noticed as he smiled.
"Thanks Itami."
To his surprise, the ring formed the words 'You're welcome.'
Shinku gingerly took out the ear clip and found it to curve around her left ear nicely and snugly.
"Thanks Itami." She faintly smiled and an oh so familiar voice entered her ear.
"You're welcome."
Shocked, she didn't noticed when Shizuka had taken his ring.
"...she remembered." He mumbled and slipped it on his right middle finger, pleased that it fit.
"Best present ever, thanks Itami." He silently cried.
'Don't cry. You're welcome.'
There, in bolded, swirly letters, Itami's handwriting, sat in his ring.
"Itami." They all choked on their sobs.
:3 I suppose that's it for now, bai!
