Chapter 1:
(Prompto POV)
I was in Hammerhead to hunt daemons. Everything was dark, the sun hadn't come back up in years... Noctis hadn't returned yet and it had been eight years already... Tons of people have been hurt or killed by daemons every year... We did our best to take down as many daemons as possible, but it never was enough... I couldn't help but miss Noct... It had been eight years and it just wasn't the same without him... However, I couldn't let that get in my way now... There were a lot of people depending on me and the other hunters... I couldn't let them down... Everyone's fighting so hard for each other and I have to protect the people who are also waiting for Noctis to return... I had to push all my emotion down and stay focused. It was hard to do at times, but it was necessary. As I sat there, poking my food, a girl wearing camouflage pants, combat boots, and a grey crop-top hoodie. She smiled lightly at me before putting her hand on the seat next the me.
"D-Do you mind if I take a seat?" she asked with a slight tilt of the head. I chuckled lightly and shook my head.
"I don't mind at all." I said, letting her sit down. I looked down at my food, not feeling very hungry... The girl tilted her head and wore a concerned expression.
"Prompto? Can I ask you a question?" the girl asked. I was taken back as to how she knew my name until I remembered that this girl was a hunter here in Hammerhead.
"Yeah, shoot!" I said with interest. The girl tugged at her clothes uncomfortably. Well... I know you haven't hunted with anyone for a while, but I was wondering if you wanted to going on a hunt with me... I've been working on learning how to use a gun and I wanna put it in action, but I wanted someone with a gun to accompany me..." she explained, looking down. I chuckled and smiles slightly.
"You don't have to be so shy. I'd love to go hunting with you. I remember Cindy mentioning that you were an amazing hunter eight years ago, and you still are, but she said that you're hesitant and anxious when hunting." I said, trying to learn about the girl. Cindy had mentioned this girl before and had told me many great things about her, but Cindy said she was worried in the last year that something may have happened since she's been hesitant to fight. The girl froze and tensed a bit, looking up at me with wide eyes. Her eyes had a strange amount of reflection in them and the color drained from her face. She stopped responding and I put my hand on her shoulder to snap her out of it, but she didn't move.
"Are you okay?" I asked, slightly confused. Cindy rushed in and looked around frantically before spotting the girl and I.
"(y/n)! I'm so sorry! I'm so so sorry!! I forgot!!!" Cindy said in a panic. I was utterly confused.
"Cindy? What's going on? What happened to her?" I asked, worried about (y/n).
"(y/n) gets bad flashbacks! I forgot that she could have one any moment since it's her birthday!!!" Cindy said, dipping a cloth in water and putting it on (y/n)'s neck to cool her down. Suddenly, (y/n) passed out, Cindy catching her as she fell out of the booth.
