   Earth, 2134

When I was a young girl, I loved nature. I would spend all of summer playing outside, and during the school year, as soon as I got home, I would run outside and bury my face in the grass, leaves, flowers, or snow. It varied depending on the season. I would go hiking in the evenings and swimming at the few lakes left in my area. Anyway, you get the idea. I was an outdoors fanatic. Now, don't get me wrong; things were still bad nature-wise back then. Half of the national parks had been eliminated, and people had to wear masks because the pollution was so bad- but the rich could still have backyards, and there was hints of trees and grass around. It wasn't all city-yet.

I remember in those days, my father would always say a quote from a name I cant remember; "when all the trees are cut down, and the rivers are dry, man will realize he can't eat money". Then, in his own words, he would mutter under his breath- nature will get it's revenge.

I never really got the significance of those words when I was younger. Now, I realize just how true they were.  Things may not have bad then, but trust me; they got worse. Write about this time, a war began. China Against Russia, I believe. No one felt safe in their own country anymore, and millions of immigrants were sent to live where I lived at the time. The U.S.A:  one of the only countries not involved in the war, either directly or by ally. Also around this time, a new leader was elected for the U.S, one who didn't care half as much about the national park laws as President Kenneth, the previous one had. This was a very bad combination, because more people mans more housing is required, and a president who's willing to cut down the remainder of national parks to provide this means the few thousand acres of wildlife left were essentially already sentenced to death. And over the years that is exactly what happened.

More and more of our crop land was used for housing, and more and more of our food was grown in labs. Until the only wildlife remaining were a few acres left in each town which were used for experimentation. The pollution got so bad over 95% of the population, had respiratory issues, and you had to wear a mask almost all the time. Trees were unheard of, and the new generation had so many birth defects half of them died within the first six months of life. The human race was coming to an end. The scientists new that, and were testing out super growth formulas in the labs of each town.

One lab formula, NC13 appeared promising in the labs. The scientist injected the formula into seeds as a final test. They watched as the plant grew to full size in only 6 hours. They were amazed, and immediately rushed out of the room to report their findings.

They returned about three hours later, and horror was struck in their faces as they realized what the plant had become. On the table lay a giant black vine with purple-engrossed thorns. It was the stuff of nightmares. It had rapped itself around the computers. The researchers turned to each other, terrified realizing that they just sent loads of  this chemical to towns all over. They were too eager, and far too soon, they were about to pay the price. They watched the vine swell up and down, almost as if it was breathing. It grew longer and longer until the scientists, still standing there dumbfounded, watched as it knocked other vials of the growth formula.

It spilled onto the vine, and faster then they could say "I wish I never created this thing" It was growing faster than ever before. It raced out the door, enveloping the laboratory, and continued onward to the town. Cities all around the U.S.A. would soon face the same fate, just at a slower rate. In their dying breaths they were choked by the vine, the scientists looked out as the black menace encased other buildings, I was inside my house as I saw the vine strangling my window. My sole thought was Karma's going to bite us in the back. I raced outside, and watched the vine collapsing other houses. Suddenly, I was tangled in as well. As everything around me died, I thought what was that my dad used to say again?- oh-right; nature will get it's revenge.' I laughed as I slowly died thinking just how right he was.
