I wasn't eating properly at all.

Today was different.

We all sat together and had dinner. I didn't bother trying to use both knife and folk. I just used my folks to pick up the smallest bit of rice before chewing it for 10 minutes. Jack sat opposite me happily eating his rice and chicken curry without no care in the world.

I am glad he is comfortable.

Lucy sat next to me and ate as slowly as I did. I couldn't help but feel like she was trying to mimic my actions which is very bad because that would mean that she wouldn't be eating enough.

I didn't have any intention of actually eating. I took another folk full of rice before chewing it quietly and slowly. I was starting to come up with an idea were I chew the rice for a bit and then spit it out into a napkin discreetly. Just as I was about to proceed with the idea Chris interrupted me.

"Michelle we got our baker to make a strawberry cream cake which I am sure you would love it. You look like someone who likes strawberries," Chris said as he smiled at me making me smile back. His wife let out a long sign of annoyance before putting her cutlery down. She took her glass in her hand.

"I don't think Michelle wants the cake babe. Me and her were discussing dieting and she is doing it," Jack's mum said before taking a sip of her drink.

"Mum!" Jack shouted as shock crossed his eyes. Chris put down his folk looking confused.

"What? She is willingly doing it aren't you sweetie?" Jack's mum asked and I quickly nodded before taking another small folk full of rice. I looked up at Jack to see him giving me a look in couldn't make out.

Chris was pouting "so you can't even have a small piece,"

"Nope she can't," Jack's mum jumped in. "Stop trying to ruin her diet!"

Chris held his hands up in surrender as his wife giggles at his actions. After a while one of their hired waitress comes and takes Jack's family's empty plates away and my full plate of rice and chicken away.

I look down at my hands as the others discuss dessert choices. "So Michelle I know your on a diet so how about having a fruit salad?" I nodded not wanting to reject every offer sent my way. The catering staff came and gave me a small white bowl of fruits which had a folk at the side. I thanked the man who gave me my fruits before picking up my folk and eating the fruits slowly.

"Like them?" Chris asked and I smiled before replying with a small yes. The cake came in a big tray and was covered in thick white cream. It also had strawberries all around it. I couldn't help but stare because it looked very beautiful.

It was one of those cakes which are so beautiful that you don't want to eat it but keep it pretty.

Me and Chris made eye contact and he chuckled at my reaction. I concentrated on my fruits while the cater cut the cake and started giving everyone a slice.

"Can I have a slice of cake and a strawberry please?" The cater cutting the cake smiled and follow Lucy's order. Chris took a bite of his cake before frowning a bit "This cake taste different," the cater looked confused as she cut one more slice.

"The same ingredients have been used." Chris didn't say anything but reached out for his glass of red wine. People were talking to the nearest person but I just concentrated on my fruits. I even played a bit with them before eating it.

When I was done I looked up and saw Chris holding his chest. He looked like he was in a lot of pain. I looked around to see if anyone had noticed but everyone's attention was elsewhere.

"Sir are you OK?" I asked Chris. Jack looked at Chris and it was then that Chris fell to the ground with a thud. Everyone rushed over to him including me. Chris was holding onto his throat and was gasping. It was having symptoms which were familiar to me.

Why were they familiar?

Then it hit me. He needs an epipen.

"Jack check his throat in case he has swallowed something," I quickly rushed upstairs to get my bag. Once I got it I reached for my epipen before rushing back downstairs. I pushed through everyone and rushed to Chris side. Without warning I stabbed the epipen into his thigh and held it there for the liquid to go in.

I counted down from 30 silently as everyone watched me quietly. I looked up to see Jack's mum crying silently. No one said a word as Chris slowly opened his eyes. He looked around as I gently pulled the needle out of his thigh.

"The ambulance is on the way!" A man in a grey suite shouted then went to stand by the open door.

"What happened?" Chris asked.

"You almost died!" Jack's mum cries as she goes into Chris arms. I slowly stood up and turned to face Jack who looked very shocked.

"How did you learn how to do that? And how did you get the needle?"

"I am allergic to nuts and it looks like your dad is to only he doesn't take his epipen everywhere he goes,"

Jack pulled me into his arms as the paramedics come into the room to take Chris away.

"Michelle?" I walked over to Chris and he gave my hand a pat.

"Thank you for saving my life," I smile shyly as I go back to Jacks warm arms. Jack's mum follows where Chris is being taken.

Lucy comes to us looking frightened and Jack let's go of me before lifting Lucy into his arms. "Dad's fine Lucy. I think we should go get some ice cream now."

"Is it OK to leave all these people here while your gone?"

"Your right Michelle," Jack placed Lucy on the ground before standing on a chair.

"Hello everyone due to the incident which happened I am afraid everyone is going to have to go but my parents would contact you and give you another appropriate day and time to come over again."

Everyone nodded before slowly exiting the house. Jack went to talk with the Caters and I pulled Lucy into a hug. Once everyone was gone Jack, me and Lucy left the house and got into Jack's car. I placed Lucy in the back seat gently before sitting at the passenger seat. Jack put started the engine before we took of.

Icecream here we come!
