Shot of the Night

Chapter 2

"Mmmph. ." Captain woke up and stretched.
She opened her eyes slowly and was greeted with the bright light of the sun shining through the windows.
She turned her head and looked at the clock.
11:32
Minty would be at work by now.
I should be at work too. . .
She suddenly felt guilty for still not having a job yet.
The longer I stay here jobless, the harder Minty is going to have to work for me. I don't wanna be a burden to her anymore. . .
Captain shook her head. "Don't think so negatively, Cap" She told herself, imitating Minty's voice to try and lighten her mood.
I'll get a job as soon as I can.
Captain sighed and stood up. She stretched, yawned then waddled over to the kitchen to get herself something to eat.
She grabbed a box of her favorite cereal, Double Chocolate Krave, and made herself a bowl.
She sat down at the empty table with her bowl of cereal and yesderday's newspaper.
Captain liked to read, but usually didn't care to read the newspaper. If she wanted to find out what was happening around the world, she would watch the news on tellivison. But since Captain couldn't think of anything better to do to keep herself occupied while she ate, she scanned through the newspaper. Nothing really caught her attention though.
She kept flipping through, still nothing interesting or useful.
She was about to give up at finding something to read and put the paper away until she saw it.
The paper read: Are you looking for a job? Well here's your big chance! Get a job at the Myraid Halo Casino today! Just call! . . .
Captain's eyes light up with joy, she jumped up from her seat.
Captain still had a mouthful of cereal in her mouth, muffling her voice as she spoke, "I can finally get a job!"
She spun around and quickly grabbed a pen and paper to write down the number listed on the newspaper.
Minty would be so happy If I can get a job!
