Captain took and deep breath and picked up her phone.
She looked down at the multiple digits on the small peice of paper.
She held the phone to her ear and anxiously listened to the ringing, waiting for someone to pick up.
Am I really doing this? Is this really happening?
Suddenly, Captain heard a cheerful sounding man speak through the phone, "Hello, Hello! Myraid Halo Casino manager speaking!"
Yep.
"Oh- Uh, Hey! . . I saw in the newspaper that there is a job available at your casino?" Captain said, she could hear the nervousness in her own voice.
"You are correct, Ma'am! We need someone to be a housekeeper here at my casino! From 2 in the afternoon to 9 at night. Monday through Friday. That's 7 hours, each day of the week not including weekends, ma'am!" The man chimed.
"Oh!" Captain squeaked "T-That's perfect, I can do that!"
"Great, just let me write down your number. You're hired, ma'am!"
Really? That was awfully easy. But that doesn't matter, becuase I got the job!
Captain was bubbling with excitment as she sat at the kichten table with her phone. She exchanged a few more words with the man.
"Thank you ma'am! One more thing before I leave you, what might be your name?" The man inquired
"Oh, right! Hehe, I almost forgot-" by now Captain felt much more comfortable talking to this stranger. Something about the cheerfulness in the man's voice was reassuring "My name is Captain. Captain Rosemary Gould, and what's yours?"
"Just call me Hayden, ma'am! Thanks for speaking with me, see you tomorrow!"
Hayden hung up the phone.
Captain took and deep breath. . .
"Yesssssss!" Captain jumped up from her chair and spun around in joy.
At first, when she was speaking with Hayden she felt like everything was going too fast. Isn't there more steps to getting hired for a job? But Captain decided that she needed to stop worrying so much, she just got herself a job for goodness sake.
"I did it, I did it!" Captain sung to herself "I finally got a job, oooh yeah!"
Captain happily skipped her way to the living room and flopped onto the couch. Her tail was flicking back and forth from excitement.
"Golly!" Captain whispered to herself "Job as a housekeeper at big fancy casino! What a dream,"
All of Captain's worries were left behind and replaced with the new excitment of the casino.
All Captain could think about was her first day at her new job tomorrow and telling Minty all about it.
Captain spent the rest of the afternoon daydreaming about how her first day at the casino could go and watching the tellivision until Minty had arrived home.
Minty walked into the house and closed the door behind her.
"Hey, Cap! I'm home,"
Captain looked over to Minty and grinned "Hey Minty!" she exclaimed
Minty looked at Captain and tilted her head to the side, "You seem awfully happy to see me. Didja really miss me that much? Haha!" Minty laughed.
"Of course I always miss you when you leave! But that's not all, you'll never guess what I did today!" Captain squeaked, her tail wagging.
"Oh really? What did you do?" Minty asked, smiling, while putting her things away.
"Well," Captain beamed. She looked away from Minty and fidgeted with her paws "You know how I've been looking for a job recently?"
Minty's ears perked and she looked at Captain "Yes,"
Captain sat up on the couch and kicked her legs back and forth, "Well I kinda sorta gotta job today," Captain said smiling wide.
"What!? No way! Cap, that's awesome! I'm so proud of you!" Minty ran to Captain and hugged her "You have to tell me everything! Where are you going to work? When do you start? C'mon gimme the details, Cap!"
Minty settled down next to Captain and waited for her to speak.
"You know that casino downtown, right, Minty? Yeah, I've gotten a job there as a housekeeper!" Captain squeaked.
"That's great, Cap. I knew you could find a job soon," Minty said, reassuringly.
"Hehe, yeah. And I start tomorrow too," Captain added.
Minty cocked her head to the side "Tomorrow? That seems pretty soon. . . Eh, it doesn't matter. I'm just glad you got yourself a job and that your happy, Cap!"
Captain smiled and nodded to Minty, "Thanks, I'll tell you all about it when I get home tomorrow,"
Minty got up and started walking towards the hallway that led to her bedroom "You better tell me everything! Anyways, Cap. You should get to sleep, you need all the energy you can get for your big day at the casino!"
"Right, Minty! Nighty night," Captain only just now realized how tired she really was, all that excitment must have drained the energy from her.
"Goodnight, Cap." Minty turned all the lights off and left the room.
Captain sighed then lay down on the couch and covered herself with a blanket.
Tomorrow is gonna be a good day
Captain listened to the sound of the wind chimes blowing in the gentle breeze outside.
Tomorrow is gonna be a real good day.
She yawned and closed her eyes, letting herself fall into sleep.
