The last thing he said haunted me. I don’t normally mind threats like these, but this time what he said sounded horrifying, and I hated it. I hated the fact that I can’t tell my parents, because I know my freedom will be taken away from me, and I’ll be more involved in their war. I tried focusing my mind on another things, like my new school.

I started getting ready for my new school. My new school uniform consists of a white inner polo, black ribbon, with white stripes, black skirt, a beige coat, and black knee-high socks. I was kind of familiar with my school, Campbell High. It was where super rich and famous kids attend. I might have a few competitors there, and it makes me excited. I wore my glasses, then I picked up my bag, and I was off.

“Why don’t you wear your contact lenses, darling?” my mom asked me on the car on the way to the school.

My mom has this silly tradition of always driving me to school on the first day school. Sometimes, my dad tags along, but today he was a little bit busy. I appreciate my mom’s gesture, and I love that she even picks me up during the first day of school.

“I was too lazy to put them on.” I simply said.

My mom frowned. “Those thick-rimmed glasses hide your gorgeous face.”

“Mom, I’m not in a beauty pageant. People there don’t need to worship my looks, they need to worship my abilities.” I answered.

My mom laughed hysterically. “I love your spirit, honey, but they need to worship your abilities and looks. Remember, you’re a Cole for those two things.”

I love that my parents poison me with this kind of thinking. That everyone was a competition. It gives me something to strive for; no one likes a dull life.

We finally arrived Campbell High. It was a really big and prestigious school, it makes me even more excited.

“Make them kiss your ass, okay?” my mom said after kissing my forehead.

“Yeah. See you later, mom. Love you.” I said, and then I got out of the car.

I took a deep breath, put on my usual poker face then I went on a hunt for my classroom. While walking inside the campus, I was stopped by a white-haired old man with the greenest eyes I’ve ever seen.

“Ms. Addison Cole?” He asked.

I narrowed my eyes. “And you are?” I asked.

He smiled, the cutest smile ever from an old guy. Then he held out his hand while saying, “Mr. Grey Campbell, the Headmaster.”

I smiled kindly while taking his hand firmly, the way my dad taught me. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Campbell.” I replied.

“Would you like me to show you around the campus?” He offered.
