To say these past three years were a helluva ride would be an understatement. After graduating high school, I made the biggest decision of my life… moving to Los Angeles with Tracey. He had to be closer to his team, and since I was his girl, I decided to follow him. Life in New Orleans was fun, but I needed to get out and do something with my life. I couldn’t attend a university because I wanted to be a full time mom of Abby during her kiddy years, so I decided to attend Monte Cross – one of the best Medical schools in LA. It was a pretty penny, but because of my grades, they gave me a full ride. They were able to work with me and just last year I received my associate’s degree in nursing.
“Bae, you need anything before I go to the gym? I won’t be home for a few hours. You know how me and the fellas get when we all together,” Tracey said as he slipped out of bed and into his Nike sweatpants.
I sat in the middle of the bed, going over some paperwork I brought home to look over. “No, I’m fine baby. I’m off today and I wanted to take Abby to Build-A-Bear. She’s been talking about it for a minute, so I might as well do it while I have time.”
Tracey climbed back into bed, pinning me down under him. “You look so good in my jersey Jay.”
“Yea much better than you,” I teased.
He chuckled then kissed my lips. “You my good luck charm.”
I playfully rolled my eyes and sucked my teeth. “So you say.”
“Nah, for real. Besides God and Abby, just thinking about you keeps me focused and on my A game. You the reason I’ve never missed a shot since I’ve been drafted. I thank God every day that you gave me another chance.”
We started kissing, and before any clothes could get taken off, I heard a faint giggle that I thought I was just hearing in my head.
“EWW!”
I pushed Tracey up, and I quickly sat up, fixing the shirt I was wearing. Abby was standing in the doorway with her hand on the doorknob. She was covering her mouth to keep from laughing.
“Come here princess,” Tracey said with his arms stretched out for her. She came and jumped in our bed and landed straight into his arms. She’s such a daddy’s girl.
“What were you guys doing?” she asked in her most squeaky, cutest voice ever. Whenever she talked, she always made me melt.
“We were showing how much we love each other,” I told her.
“By kissing?”
I laughed. “Yep!”
“Ewww that’s yucky,” she said with her nose in the air. She’s such a diva at times.
“That’s right. They are yucky. Only mommy and daddy can do that. You can never do that until you’re married,” Tracey butted in. I playfully hit his arm after that remark.
“Not until she’s married,” then I thought about it. I don’t want that one kiss to lead her down the wrong path at such a young age. “You’re right.”
Abby then crawled into my lap. “Mommy can we please please please go to Build-A-Bear! I really need the new big flamingo that was on TV.”
“Is it a need or a want?” I asked her.
“Really Jay?” Tracey said.
“What? You spoil her too much when it comes to buying stuff. She needs to know the difference between needing and only wanting something,” I politely snapped. Then I turned my attention back to Abby. “Now is it a need or a want?”
